    DESCRIPTION:

    Phenylbutazone Bolus is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory durg (NSAID) that works to relieve musculoskeletal inflammation in horses.

    How is Medication Given?

  • Administer an oral dose of 1 to 2 boluses for every 500 pounds of body weight.
  • Do not administer more than 4 grams per day.
  • Dosage should be reduced as symptoms subside.

    What Results Can I Expect? Phenylbutazone Bolus controls pain and musculoskeletal inflammation associated with injuries, infections, and laminitis.

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Boluses

    Dose and Administration: Sold in a 100-count bottle of boluses.

    Possible Side Effects: Potential side effects include:

  • Total white count decreases, relative granulocyte decreass, or black or tarry stools - if noted, immediately discontinue use and initiate countermeasures
  • Fatal reactions with prolonged use in rare cases - to prevent this, weekly blood counts should be taken during early phases of treatment, and bi-weekly counts should be taken thereafter
  • Gastrointestinal uspset, jaundice, or blood dyscrasia - if observed, discontinue use right away

    Precautions:

  • Only for animal use.
  • Do not administer to any animal intended for human consumption.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not administer, or administer under close supervision, to animals on other anti-inflammatories like NSAIDs or corticosteroids.
  • Concomitant anti-infective treatment will be required to treat infectious inflammatory conditions.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location between 15 degrees C and 30 degrees C (59 degrees F and 86 degrees F).

    In Case of Overdose: Call your nearest emergency pet hospital.
