Flunixin Meglumine is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal, potent analgesic that has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic qualities. Rat yeast paw testing demonstrated that this medication was more potent as an analgesic than Pentazocine, Meperidine, or Codeine. Oral studies of horses have shown that Flunixin action onset occurs within 2 hours of administration, with peak response occurring between 12 and 16 hours and duration of activity between 24 to 36 hours.

How is Medication Given?
Dosing recommendation is 0.5 mg for every pound of body weight administered daily. Each syringe (with 250-pound increment calibration) delivers a dose of 125 mg for every 250 pounds. A single syringe is enough to treat one horse (1000 pounds) daily for a 3-day period, or to treat three horses (1000 pounds each) once.
