    DESCRIPTION

    Tamsulosin Hydrochloride is useful in treating the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. This alpha-1 antagonist could also facilitate nephrolith and ureterolith passage, and treat urinary obstruction or treat detrusor-urethral dyssynergia.

    How is Medication Given?

  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.
  • Full efficacy could take up to 3 days.
  • Never allow an animal to chew on the beads within the capsule.
  • Never crush.
  • Administer on empty stomach to promote bioavilability.

    What Results Can I Expect: Tamsulosin Hydrochloride:

  • May be effective in treating UO (functional urinary obstruction) or DESD (detrusor-urethral dyssynergia)
  • Could facilitate nephrolith or ureterolith passage
  • Can treat the signs and symptoms of prostatic enlargement (BPH/benign prostatic hyperplasia

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Capsules

    Dose and Administration: Capsules are sold individually in a single strength (0.4 mg).

    Possible Side Effects: Temporary infertility can occur in dogs because of a transient ejaculate volume reduction. Hypotension can occur when administered at a high dose. If you observe any of the following signs of toxicity, withdraw use and pursue veterinary treatment:

  • Excessive salivation
  • Red eyes
  • Excessive lacrimation (tear production)
  • Tremors
  • Incoordination (ataxia)
  • Lethargy
  • Vomiting

    Precautions: Do not crush, as rapid oral delivery can lead to hypotension. Do not administer to an animal with Tamsulosin Hydrochloride hypersensitivity. Keep away from children and animals.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location between 20 to 25 degrees C (68 to 77 degrees F).

    In Case of Overdose: Call your nearest emergency animal hospital.
