What Results Can I Expect? Famotidine is an anti-ulcer medication. It is part of what is known as the histamine receptor-2 blocker class. The stimulation of stomach cells and theircell membranes occurs because of H-2 receptors, which leads to gastric acid secretion. Ulcers are able to heal using this medication, as it prevents the secretion of gastric acid through the H-2 receptors being blocked.
