    Levetiracetam Oral is a revolutionary anti-eleptic medication that manages refractory epilepsy in dogs or cats.

    What Results Can I Expect? Levetiracetam is:

  • An effective way to reduce dosage of Phenobarbital without adverse reactions, such as increased seizure frequency
  • Useful in treating liver damage associated with Phenobarbital
  • Useful in treating seizures associated with hepatic encephalopathy
  • A great option for dogs and cats whose seizure condition is not controlled by Phenobarbital or Bromides (like 60-70% of dogs and cats)
  • An add-on medication

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Oral Suspension, "Liquid"

    Dose and Administration: Sold in a bottle containing 16 ounces (100 mg per mL).

    Possible Side Effects: Levetiracetam is not associated with a large number of adverse reactions. The most frequently reported reaction is drowsiness, as with any seizure control medication. Cats may experience temporary inappetence.

    Precautions:

  • Administer cautiously to animals with decreased kidney function.
  • Dosage rate and administration frequency might need to be adjusted.
  • Withdraw treatment gradually to prevent seizures during medication withdrawal.
  • This medication should only be administered to a pregnant animal when a veterinarian has carefully weighed the risks and benefits. Lab animals showed increased embryonal and fetal loss.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location between 15 C and 30 degrees C (59 degrees F and 86 degrees F).
