DESCRIPTION:

Zonisamide is an anti-seizure drug from the Sulfonamide class. It is unlike all other seizure control medications in that it is an anticonvulsant. It can be used as part of a seizure control regimen, or it can be prescribed as an initial treatment for epilepsy.

  • Although Zonisamide does not have a proven mode of action, it is believed to block certain brain sodium channels, which decrease the activity of nerve cells.
