DESCRIPTION:

Cimetidine is used to treat duodenal ulcers, active gastric ulcers, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), pathological hypersecretory conditions (such as Zollinger Ellison syndrome), and heartburn. It is also useful in preventing gastrointestinal bleeding.

    Precautions:

  • This drug is approved by the FDA for human use, but it is often prescribed by veterinarians for use in dogs, cats, and horses.
  • Rarely, a gastric ulcer may temporarily heal, even with documented malignancy. For this reason, symptomatic Cimetidine response does not mean that a gastric malignancy can be ruled out.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location.
