    Description: Colchicine is occasionally used in veterinary medicine for dogs to treat conditions such as amyloidosis, inflammatory bowel disease, hepatic fibrosis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. It helps reduce inflammation and fibrosis by interfering with inflammatory responses and protein deposition in tissues. Its use should be guided by a veterinarian due to potential side effects and the need for careful dosage and monitoring.

    Health Considerations: Contact your nearest emergency animal hospital. Symptoms of overdose may include severe gastrointestinal upset (such as excessive vomiting and diarrhea), extreme lethargy, muscle weakness, incoordination, and signs of toxic shock, including rapid heart rate and breathing difficulties. If you suspect your dog has ingested an excessive amount of colchicine, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately. Do not attempt to induce vomiting unless directed by a veterinarian. Provide as much information as possible, including the dosage taken.
