Key Benefits:
The active ingredient of Selarid is Selamectin. This ingredient is known as a macrocyclic lactone compound, which prevents adult heartworms from developing when administered within a month of exposure to the infective larvae (L3 Dirofilaria immitis).
Formulated For: Intended for puppies and dogs aged 6 weeks and older.
How is Medication Given? Administration Directions:
1) Remove a single applicator from its pouch by folding along the diagonal line and exposing the nick, then tearing back, or with scissors. 2) Hold applicator in an upright position. 3) Tap at the narrow portion of the applicator. This will help bring the contents into the applicator's main body. 4) Snap back or twist the tip. 5) Pair your pet's hair at a location in front of his or her shoulder bladed at the base of their neck. The skin should be visible. 6) Place the Selarid applicator tip right against the pet's skin. 7) Firmly squeeze the applicator 3 to 4 times in a single spot until the tube is completely empty. On the last squeeze, keep the applicator squeezed to prevent drawing medication back in. Do not touch Selarid with your fingers. 8) Keep the applicator squeezed and drag it away from the application site, lifting to remove. 9) Visually confirm that the applicator is completely empty, then throw it away in your regular household trash. Recommended minimum dosage rate is 2.7 mg of Selamectin for every pound of body weight.
