About this item
DESCRIPTION

VetOne Meloxidyl Oral Suspension contains Meloxicam, an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that controls the inflammation and pain associated with canine osteoarthritis.

Key Benefits: VetOne Meloxidyl contains Meloxicam, which reduces inflammation-causing and pain-causing body hormones.

Formulated For: For dogs 6 months or older.

How is Medication Given? Administration Directions:

  • 1) Before administering, choose between the two included dosing syringes. The small syringe is made for dogs under 30 pounds, and it features 1-pound increments. The large syringe is for dogs over 30 pounds, and it features 5-pound increments. This product should only be used with the included syringes. Do not use the container as a dropper bottle for VetOne Meloxidyl administration.
  • 2) Shake thoroughly, then remove the cap.
  • 3) Decide whether you prefer direct administration (into the dog's mouth) or to combine the productwith food.
  • 4) Ensure accurate dosing. The small syringe should be used for dogs under 30 pounds, and the large for dogs over 30 pounds. In either case, the syringe is calibrated to deliver an accurate daily maintenance dose. To dose a small dog, round down to the closest 1-pound increment. For large dogs, round down to the closest 5-pound increment.
  • 5) Depress the plunger to dispense.
  • 6) After use, replace the cap tightly.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.
  • Read the entire information sheet prior to use.
  • The risks and benefits associated with VetOne Meloxidyl (and every alternative) should be considered prior to use.
  • The lowest possible dose should be administered for the shortest possible duration to achieve a response.
  • Recommended initial dosage rate is 0.09 mg per pound of body weight on day one, then 0.045 mg per pound thereafter.
  • Each syringe is pre-calibrated to conveniently deliver a daily dose in pounds. Since the initial dose is double the maintenance dose, two syringes will be required for initial dosing.

What Results Can I Expect: VetOne Meloxidyl controls the inflammation and pain that often accompanies canine osteoarthritis. The oral suspension is easy to administer.

  • Never administer to a dog who is known to be hypersensitive to Meloxicam.
  • Monitor your pet during treatment for drug toxicity. The included information sheet gives you more information on the signs of thiscondition.
  • Testing is required to obtain serum hematological and biochemical baseline data prior to and throughout treatment.
  • Prior to beginning treatment with this medication or any NSAID, a thorough examination and review of medical history should be completed.
  • Only administer orally.
  • This product is not safe for use in humans. In case of accidental ingestion, pursue medical treatment.
  • Monitor patients on ancillary therapies for drug compatibility.
  • Concomitant medication may inhibit Meloxicam metabolism. This has not been studied.
  • Common protein-bound medications, such as cardiac, anticonvulsant, and behavioral drugs, have not been studied for safe concomitant use.
  • Observe proper washout times when switching from one NSAID to a different NSAID or from corticosteroid to NSAID treatment.
  • NSAID use can cause gastrointestinal ulceration or perforation. Therefore, concomitant use of other NSAIDs or corticosteroids is contraindicated. If your dog requires additional pain management medication in conjunction with Meloxicam, a non-NSAID or non-corticosteroid analgesic should be considered.
  • NSAID medications may inhibit the prostaglandins that maintain homeostasis. This effect may lead to severe disease in dogs who have an underlying or undiagnosed disease.
  • Use caution in concomitantly administering a potentially nephrotoxic medication.
  • The animals who are most likely to experience renal toxicity are those who have pre-existing renal, cardiovascular, or hepatic dysfunction, dehydrated dogs, and animals taking concomitant diuretics.
  • Dogs who have had an adverse reaction to another NSAID may also react to this one.
  • Drug-related adverse reaction sensitivity varies from one patient to the next.
  • Cyclooxygenase inhibiting NSAIDs may cause gastrointestinal, renal, and hepatic toxicity.
  • Not proven safe for use in dogs under 6 months old, in pregnant, breeding, or lactating dogs, or in dogs with a bleeding disorder.
