Description: VETMEDIN™® (pimobendan) Chewable Tablets is an inodilator approved by the FDA¹; that is demonstrated to delay the onset of congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs with Stage B2 preclinical myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD), and manages the signs of mild, moderate, or severe CHF in dogs due to clinical MMVD or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). 2,3 Given every 12 hours, its unique dual mode of action reduces the preload and afterload on the heart while improving contractility of the heart muscle.1 Pimobendan, the active ingredient in VETMEDIN™, reduces stress on the heart and increases cardiac output without raising oxygen or energy consumption. When used as directed, VETMEDIN™ is demonstrated to prolong the symptom-free time in MMVD, and improve quality of life and survival time in dogs in heart failure due to MMVD. General or Recommended Dosage: VETMEDIN™® (pimobendan) Chewable Tablets should be administered orally at a total daily dose of 0.23 mg⁄lb (0.5 mg⁄kg) body weight, using a suitable combination of whole or half tablets. The total daily dose should be divided into 2 portions that are not necessarily equal, and the portions should be administered approximately 12 hours apart (i.e., morning and evening). The tablets are scored and the calculated dosage should be provided to the nearest half tablet increment.

Storage Instructions: Store at 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F), excursions permitted between 15° and 30°C (between 59°and 86°F).

Potential Side Effects: The most common side effects are poor appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, shortness of breath, weakness, and ataxia (lack of muscle control and coordination). If side effects occur, consult your veterinarian. The safety of VETMEDIN™® has not been established in puppies younger than 6 months of age, or in breeding, pregnant or lactating dogs.
