DESCRIPTION

Cephalexin Oral Suspension is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It combats a variety of bacterial infections in dogs, including soft tissue, skin, respiratory tract, and urinary tract infections. It is intended to be mixed with water prior to use.

Key Benefits: Cephalexin works to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial wall nucleopeptides, which destroys bacteria.

How is Medication Given?

  • Orally administer a dose of 10 mg to 30 mg per kg of body weight at 6- to 12-hour intervals.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.

    What Results Can I Expect: Cephalexin Oral Suspension is used to treat:

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin infections
  • Soft tissue infections
  • Respiratory tract infections

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Oral Suspension

    Dose and Administration: Sold in a bottle containing 100 or 200 mL (250 mg per 5 mL).

    Possible Side Effects: This product is typically well-tolerated, allowing for several months of treatment with no or moderate reactions. If you observe any of the following adverse reactions:

  • High Fever (Rare)
  • Excitability
  • Skin Rash
  • Rapid Breathing
  • Drooling
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Inappetence
  • Renal Excretion (only in animals treated concomitantly with Probenecid)

    Gastrointestinal effects are usually reduced by administering with food. Tell your vet about any other unusual or bothersome effects.

    Precautions:

  • Keep away from children and animals.
  • Administer with caution to pets with kidney failure or a history of seizures.
  • Never administer to a pregnant or lactating animal.
  • Never administer to animals with known allergies to Penicillin, Cephalosporins, or antibiotics.

    Storage Recommendations: After reconstitution with water, oral suspension should be kept refrigerated and any unused portion to be discarded after 14 days.

    In Case of Overdose: Contact the nearest emergency pet clinic.
