How is Medication Given?
Generally, dogs will require a dose of 2 mg to 5 mg for every pound of body weight administered every 12 to 24 hours. Dosage rate and treatment duration will be based upon the dog's individual infection severity. While it's not essential that this medication is administered with food, your dog should have constant access to water while taking this medication. Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product. Do not allow your dog to consume any dairy product during treatment with this medication. This can reduce medication absorption within the body. Do not administer expired Doxycycline. This can cause kidney damage and even death.

Dose and Administration: Tablets are sold individually in a single strength (100 mg).
Possible Side Effects:
Nausea and diarrhea are the most common adverse reactions related to this medication. If you observe any signs of an allergic reaction, including swollen lips, swollen tongue, trouble breathing, or facial hives, withdraw use and pursue emergency treatment. Certain dogs may also experience inappetence, hair loss, lesions, confusion, or jaundice.
Precautions:
Never administer to a pregnant animal, as it can be harmful to offspring. Never administer to a nursing animal, as it can cause slow bone growth and discolored teeth. Never administer a multivitamin, calcium supplement antacid, or laxative within 2 hours of Doxycycline dosing. This medication can cause increased sunlight sensitivity and a resulting sunburn. Never administer expired Doxycycline. It can cause a kidney-damaging, severe syndrome. Dispose of expired Doxycycline properly.
