How do I join the Treats Rewards program?

Does it cost anything to join Treats Rewards?
No! Enrollment in Treats Rewards is free.
Who’s eligible to join the program?
You must be age 18 years or older and a resident of the United States, including Puerto Rico, to be eligible for Treats Rewards membership. Membership is limited to individuals. You can only have one account per individual.
What information must I provide?
To join Treats Rewards, you need to provide your first and last name, phone number and email address. When signing up in our stores, you will enter and confirm your information on the pin pad. You can then go online to complete your account setup and add a password (which will give you the ability to redeem points online, create a profile and more!)
When signing up online or through our mobile app, you will need to validate your email address for added security. You will receive an email with a link to “verify your email address”. By clicking the link, you are confirming that the email address belongs to you and that you are ready to enjoy all your program benefits. Please note, it may take several minutes to complete the email verification.
Why should I join the Treats Rewards program?

Gift cards, shipping charges, bag fees, discounts (including coupon discounts), taxes, tips and veterinary services are not eligible for earning points. Only donations made to PetSmart Charities at checkout in a PetSmart store, PetSmart.com or the PetSmart app qualify to earn points. Purchases made on third-party delivery Marketplaces (E.g., DoorDash, Instacart, Shipt) may only earn points once the member has linked their Treats Rewards account on the Marketplace platform. Is Treats Rewards a credit card?
No. Treats Rewards is a FREE rewards program that offers you benefits and savings for the things you need to take care of the pets you love! Earn points every time you shop at PetSmart and redeem points or rewards on thousands of products and pet services.
Managing Your Treats Rewards Account
I signed up in store. How do I access my account in the PetSmart app or online?
If you signed up for Treats Rewards in a store, you will need to create a password to access your account in the app or online. On the PetSmart mobile app or website, navigate to the sign in page and click the link to create an account. Complete the form using the same information you provided in store, including first name, last name, email address and phone number. This will allow you to set up a pet profile, activate your personalized offers, view your points balance and more.
Can I change the phone number or email address that I used to create my account?
Yes, you can update your account information at the register or in the “about you” section of your App / online Treats Rewards account. However, if you have a verified online account, you may need to contact Customer Care for help. You can reach out at 1-888-839-9638 for help with your account.
I forgot my password to access my account in the mobile app or at petsmart.com. What do I do?
During the sign-in process, click the "forgot password?" link. An email to reset your password will be sent to the email address you provided. If you don’t receive an email within 15 minutes, check your spam/junk folder. If you’re unable to find the email, please call Customer Care at 1-888-839-9638 for assistance.
What is my Treats Rewards profile? How do I complete my profile?
Your Treats Rewards profile is complete when you have provided: first & last name, phone number, email, basic pet information & opt in preferences for promotional communication (including mailing address). You do not have to be opted into promotional communications to have a completed profile.
You can earn 1,000 points (worth $2 in savings) as a profile completion bonus the first time your profile is completed.

Bonus Treats Points awarded one time only. Most promotions award points immediately, but it may take up to 72 hours to appear in accounts. Consent is not a condition of purchase. How can I check to see if I have offers or points?
To check your points balance and available offers, visit the Treats Rewards page on the mobile app or log into your account here. We bet you have offers available to activate today!
I have multiple accounts. Can I combine them?
Yes, please contact customer care for assistance via online form or by calling 1-888-839-9638. Some accounts may not be able to be merged, and it is possible points will not be transferred depending on how they were earned. Merging accounts may temporarily affect the availability of rewards. It may take up to 5 days for the member account to reflect any tier status change as the result of an account merge.
You cannot merge accounts owned or created by different individuals.
Earning Points
How do I earn points?
All members earn 10 points for every $1 spent on products and pet services (Grooming Salon, PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and Dog Training).
In stores: When checking out in stores, you can provide your Treats Rewards ID from the mobile app to scan or tell the store associate your phone number or email address to look up your account.
Mobile app or online: When checking out through the mobile app or online, be sure you are logged in before you check out. Points for these purchases will be credited to your Treats Rewards account after your entire purchase has shipped. You will earn points for buy online, pick up in-store orders after the order has been picked up.
Additionally, you can earn points on PetSmart orders placed through Same Day Delivery Marketplaces, including DoorDash, Instacart & Shipt. To earn points on these orders, you must link your Treats Rewards account to your Marketplace account before your order is placed. There may be additional delays (up to 7 days) for points to appear in your account for Marketplace purchases.

How do I earn bonus points?
There are three ways to earn bonus points:
(1) By earning Bestie or VIPP status in the Treats Reward Program
These points are awarded automatically as long the member has provided their account information at the register or is signed in online at the time of purchase.
- Bestie tier bonus: an additional 2 points per $1 (this is 20% more points per $1!)
- VIPP tier bonus: an additional 4 points per $1 (this is 40% more points per $1!)
(2) By activating bonus offers in your account
Activate offers in your Treats Rewards account and check back frequently for new offers to explore. Find your offers by tapping “Treats Rewards” in the app or by logging into your account online. You can also activate offers with one click from email.
(3) Automatically, whenever you donate to PetSmart Charities
All members automatically earn 2X points on donations made to PetSmart Charities® in stores at the pin pad or online at checkout. Chance & Friends purchases do not qualify for the 2X points on donations.
Do my points expire?
Unless otherwise specified, points will expire one year after the date they were earned.
Special limited time bonus points may be offered to members throughout the year. These offers will have terms provided in the offer details.
How do I know if I have points expiring?
Point expiration details can be found in the mobile app and online. We may also communicate with you via email when you have points that are about to expire.
When do my points appear in my Treats Rewards account?
- For in-store purchases, base points are credited to your account as soon as your purchase completes. In rare cases where there is a technology outage, if your information was given at the register, your account will be credited as soon as the issue is resolved. This typically takes less than 24 hours but may take longer. You can also contact customer care for assistance.
- Bonus points, including tier bonus points, are typically issued as soon as the purchase is completed but may take up to 72 hours to be applied to your account.
- For online purchases, points are credited to your account within 24-72 hours after your order has shipped. For buy-online/pickup-in-store orders, points are credited to your account upon order pickup.
What happens if an uneven amount is spent? Is there credit for the change?
Yes, every penny counts! If you spent $35.55, you’ll earn 355.5 points (10 points per dollar x $35.55). In some places, we won’t be able to display the points decimals, but we are tracking them for you!
Where can I find my points balance?
- Mobile app: Log in and see your points on the Treats Rewards home page
- Online: Visit https://www.petsmart.com/treats-rewards/ and log in to your account to see your points
- In stores: Check the bottom of your receipt for points or ask a cashier
- Email: Your points balance will often be displayed at the top of PetSmart emails
Can I stack bonus point offers?
Most Treats Rewards offers are stackable, and members will earn on both if the terms and conditions of each offer are met. Exceptions may apply.
How does my tier bonus work? Will I earn additional tier bonus points when I shop using a multiplier offer?
Tier bonuses are awarded (or “are applied”?) automatically and are calculated against the purchase price of the product or service purchased. Multiplier offers are calculated against the base earn rate of 10 points per $1 and do not apply to tier bonus points.
For example, if you are a VIPP with a tier bonus of 4 points per $1 and make a $15 purchase using a 5X offer:
Multiplier bonus points: $15 x 10 points x 5X = 750 points
Tier bonus points: $15 x 4 points = 60 points
TOTAL points earned: 810
Tier bonus points: $15 x 4 points = 60 points
TOTAL points earned: 810
You will see base and bonus points broken out on your receipt. Base points reflect the standard 10 points per $1 earn rate and serve as the first 1X in any multiplier offer. Both the multiplier offer and the tier bonus will be shown as bonus points. In the example above, you would see the points earned as:
Base points: 150 points
Bonus points: 660 points
Bonus points: 660 points
How can I check to see if I have any offers or points?
Most bonus-points promotions will be delivered via email, to the email address associated with your account. You must be opted-in to receive marketing emails to get these via email. All bonus points offers available to you will be in your Treats Rewards account ready for activation. Just log in to your Treats Account in the PetSmart mobile app or at https://www.petsmart.com/treats-rewards/.
How do I activate offers?
Some offers require activation. You can activate offers in email or on the offer section of your mobile app or online account. To activate an offer, just click the “activate” button and then shop.
What happens to my points when I return an item?
Any points earned on the returned merchandise are deducted from your points balance. A negative points balance can result if you return a product with a point value greater than the number of points in your account balance. Your balance will return to positive as soon as you earn more points on your future purchases.
What if I forgot to use my Treats Rewards account during an in-store purchase or during online checkout? How do I apply a missing transaction to my account?
Please call Customer Care at 1-888-839-9638 and make sure to have your receipt handy. Transactions may only be claimed one time.
Is there a maximum number of points I can earn in one calendar year?
Yes. There is a limit of 2.5 million points that an individual account can earn each calendar year. This is redeemable for $5,000. If you reach this maximum, your account will stop earning points until the next calendar year & you will start earning again automatically at that time.
Earning a Tier Status
How do I earn Bestie or VIPP status?
Tier status is earned based on calendar year qualifying spend.
Spend thresholds:
- Member: Free to join
- Bestie: $500–$999 annual qualifying spend
- VIPP (Very Important Pet Parent): $1,000+ annual qualifying spend
Tier status will be awarded within 24 hours of reaching the annual spend threshold. Your Bestie or VIPP points bonuses will apply to all transactions after status is awarded. Note: If you make two purchases in the same day and reach the spend threshold for Bestie or VIPP status in the first purchase, you’ll not earn the points bonus on the second purchase that day.
How long does my tier status last?
You earn tier status in the calendar year where you meet the spend threshold plus an additional year. In that second year, you must meet the threshold again to retain your tier status for the next year.
For example: A member who earns Bestie status on June 15, 2024, will receive tier status through December 31, 2025. In 2025, they must spend more than $500 to retain Bestie status through 2026.
What additional benefits will I get by earning a higher tier status?
Bestie & VIPP tiers come with the ability to earn rewards faster since they both provide tier bonuses to earn additional bonus points: Besties earn an additional 2 points per $1 while VIPPs earn an additional 4 points per $1.
Tier members also earn personal 2X points purchases (1 for Besties, 2 for VIPPs each calendar year) to double the base points earned during one transaction, tier appreciation events, and early access to select sales & events. In addition to these benefits, VIPPs will also receive a special holiday gift. Check the Treats Rewards page here for the latest complete list of program benefits by tier.
How will I know when I’ve earned a higher tier status?
You’ll receive an email notifying you of the new tier status. You can also log in on the mobile app or online to see your current tier status.
Once I earn a new tier, how long will it take for my new tier benefits to appear in my account?
It will take one day for your account to update after you spend the qualifying minimum threshold.
I qualify for one or more tier rewards for a 2X points purchase as a result of my tier status. How do I redeem this offer?
When you're ready to take advantage of the 2X points purchase and earn double the base points on your next transaction, just activate the offer and complete a purchase online or in store. Please note the bonus will only be applied to the first purchase made after activation. If you activate this offer accidentally, it is not able to be reversed. Besties are eligible for one 2X points purchase per calendar year and VIPPs are eligible for two 2X points purchases per calendar year.
Where can I find Birthday / Gotcha Day or Holiday gifts?
Get the most out of your Treats Rewards membership by downloading the PetSmart app and opting into promotional emails from PetSmart. You'll be the first to hear about benefits, offers, events and other fun surprises for your pets!
How do I receive gifts for my pet’s Birthday or Gotcha Day?
We love celebrating your pets! Keep your Treats Rewards profile up to date with your pet’s Birthday or Gotcha Day, and we’ll email you a surprise going into the month of their special day (max 1 gift per month.) We also love to surprise Treats Rewards members with special offers from our partners! Check your app during your pet’s Birthday or Gotcha Day month you’ve saved in your profile to see if you have any of these extra birthday surprises waiting for you.
Not opted-in to marketing emails from PetSmart? Check the Offers section of your account in the app or online for a gift from PetSmart and contact Customer Care at 1-888-839-9638 to receive promo codes from the Treats Rewards partners included on the birthday offer.
How do I update my pet’s birthday in my profile?
You can update your pet profiles through the PetSmart app or in your account at http://petsmart.com/.
Web: Log in and navigate to https://www.petsmart.com/account/. From the “about you” section, scroll down to “Pets” and click into any pet to edit the profile or select “add another pet” to tell us about any new pets.
App: Log in and select the Account tab. Tap on “my profile” to bring up existing pet profiles, where you can select each pet to edit the profile or select “add a pet” to create additional pet profiles.
Redeeming Points
How do I redeem my Treats Rewards points in stores?
If you have points available to redeem, simply tell the associate at the register that you want to redeem your points & they can apply them to your purchase. When points are redeemed in store, the maximum amount of savings possible will automatically be applied to your purchase. For large point redemptions at a PetSmart store, members must verify their identity.
How do I redeem my points online?
Log in to your Treats Rewards account. If you have points or rewards available to redeem, you can request to redeem your points in your cart or during checkout. Treats Rewards points can be redeemed in increments of 1,000 points (worth $2 in savings). You can only redeem points up to the total of the order.
What items don’t qualify for points redemption?
Most products are eligible for points or rewards redemption. However, you cannot redeem points to make donations at pin pad or checkout online, or to purchase gift cards or veterinary services, pay taxes or tips, receive cash back or pay shipping fees. You are unable to redeem points on auto ship orders or third-party delivery Marketplace orders (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Shipt) currently. What happens if I return a product I bought using full or partial points redemption?
When you redeem your points or rewards for a product purchase, they are forfeited and won’t be reinstated to your account if you return the product on which you redeemed your points.
Can I give my points to a friend or family member?
No. You cannot transfer points earned on one account to another Treats Rewards member.
I’d like to donate my Treats Rewards points to PetSmart Charities. How can I do that?
Throughout the year, as a Treats Rewards member, you’ll receive an email that includes an opportunity to donate your points to PetSmart Charities through a donation offer. Just activate the offer to indicate your wish to donate points and if you have sufficient points in your Treats Rewards account at the end of the offer period, your points will be donated to PetSmart Charities.
Communication preferences
How can I get special offers as a member?
The Treats Rewards program provides you with special offers based on the products and services you love! You have many options for how to receive communications from PetSmart, including email, SMS text messages, mobile app notifications, and postal mail. You may not receive the same offers across all channels, and some benefits are only available via email or in the app.
How do I update my communication preferences?
The easiest way to start or stop receiving promotional email communications is to log into your Treats Rewards account, go to My Account and either check or uncheck the box to receive emails and texts. If you wish to unsubscribe from email marketing, you can also click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any PetSmart email you receive. If you wish to unsubscribe from text marketing, you can also text STOP to cancel in response to any PetSmart text. However, if you opt out, you will no longer receive member-only deals and discounts that are communicated via email or text. If you have unsubscribed by accident or wish to receive emails or texts again, just go online or Call Customer Care at 1-888-839-9638.

How do I get the special offer that my friend received?
The Treats Rewards program is designed to give you offers tailored to you. Not all offers are available to all members. To receive offers more relevant to you, keep your profile updated and remember to log in when you shop online or provide your phone number or email address in store at the register.
Reward Certificates
What is a Reward Certificate?
Reward Certificates are limited-time bonus points that Treats Rewards members can earn and claim in their Treats Rewards account in the app or online. Reward Certificates can be earned on a promotional basis or as a granted benefit of the Treats Rewards program.
All Treats Rewards members will be eligible to earn two (2) 5,000-point Reward Certificates annually by visiting the PetSmart Grooming Salon. Through this program, members will earn a Reward Certificate when they visit the Grooming Salon for a bath or groom service for two consecutive months. Walk-in services and visits where members are redeeming pre-paid grooming package sessions will not count as a qualifying salon visit.
When will my Reward Certificate expire?
Reward Certificates are valid for a limited time. The terms for each Reward Certificate vary. Details will be available on the offer card located in your Treats Rewards account. Salon Reward Certificates will expire at the end of the calendar month in which it was earned.
How can I use my Reward Certificates?
To use a Reward Certificate, members must first claim the limited-time bonus points by activating the offer card in their Treats Rewards account in the app or online. Members can also claim Reward Certificates in email if they are opted into marketing communications from PetSmart.
Once a Reward Certificate is claimed, the points will be instantly available to redeem for any PetSmart merchandise or services in stores or online (except gift cards and veterinary services).
Salon Reward Certificates may by earned by visiting the salon, however, they can used on any PetSmart merchandise or services in stores or online (except gift cards and veterinary services).
When will my 5,000-point Reward Certificate that I earned from visiting the salon be delivered?
When members visit the salon for two consecutive months, they will earn a 5,000-point Reward Certificate the following month. For example, if members visit in January and February, they will earn the Reward Certificate in March. The Rewards Certificate will be available to claim in accounts on March 1 until March 31 and points must be used on or by March 31 or else they will expire and be forfeited.
Reward Certificates earned in other ways will have different expiration dates and terms specified in the offer.
How many Salon Reward Certificates can I earn each year?
As a program benefit, members can earn up to two 5,000-point Reward Certificates through their visits to the PetSmart Grooming Salon each calendar year. This means that members who visit the salon in November and December will earn a January Reward Certificate, which will count toward the maximum for that calendar year starting in January.
Can I get a replacement if I do not use my Reward Certificate?
No, if a Reward Certificate is not claimed or expires, it will not be reissued in the future.
Can I give my friend or family member my Reward Certificate if I don’t want it?
No, Reward Certificates are non-transferable and can only be redeemed by the member who earned them.
Adopt and Claim VIPP
Who can earn the Treats Rewards benefit for adopters to claim VIPP (Very Important Pet Parent) tier status?
All Treats Rewards members that complete an adoption at a PetSmart store are eligible to claim VIPP status. Any pet adoption where members complete the in-store adoption application can qualify, regardless of what day of the week it is or what type of pet is being adopted. The Claim VIPP offer applies to adoptions facilitated through PetSmart’s approved adoption partners. Members who have already earned VIPP status in the current year will not see the offer in their accounts.
How do I claim VIPP tier status after completing an adoption in-store?
After you complete an adoption in-store, your Treats Rewards tier status will not change automatically. You will need to claim the offer by activating the Claim VIPP offer card in your Treats Rewards account. Visit the “Rewards” section of the mobile app to discover this offer and many others!
To ensure you receive this offer:
- Use your Treats Rewards email address when filling out the adoption application in-store.
- Complete the adoption process with an approved PetSmart adoption partner.
- Look for the offer card in the “Rewards” section of your PetSmart mobile app.
Timing for the offer to appear depends on your email marketing preferences:
- If you have chosen to opt-in to PetSmart marketing during the adoption application, the Claim VIPP offer will appear in your Treats Rewards account the within 24-48 hours
- If you are NOT currently a PetSmart Treats Rewards member, you must create an account before or during the adoption process. Note that opting into marketing communications when creating your Treats Rewards account does not qualify you for the Claim VIPP offer - you must specifically opt-in to marketing during the adoption application. For additional questions, please reach out to our customer care team.
- If you have chosen to NOT opt-in to PetSmart marketing during the adoption application, the Claim VIPP offer could take up to 10 days to appear in your Treats Rewards account.
Need to verify your Treats Rewards email? You can check this in the PetSmart app by clicking the “Account” icon in the lower right corner, then selecting “My Profile” to view your registered email address. Store associates can also help you verify this information.
How long do I have to claim VIPP status after completing a pet adoption in-store?
The offer card will be available in your account until the end of the month after your in-store adoption date.
- For example, if you adopt a pet in September, the Claim VIPP offer will be available in your account until the last day of October.
If you do not claim the Claim VIPP offer before it expires, you are still eligible to earn VIPP tier status in other ways. However, this offer will no longer be available.
How long does VIPP status last with this offer?
VIPP status is earned for the calendar year of the pet adoption plus one additional year.
- For example, if you adopt any time during 2025, you will earn VIPP status through December 31, 2026.
I believe I qualified for the Claim VIPP offer, but I do not see it in my account. What should I do?
Wait at least 10 days after your adoption date. Then please call PetSmart customer care at 1 (888) 839-9638 for assistance. Please have your adoptioninformation handy: Name ofpet adopted, date of adoption, adoption partner information and store where the adoption occurred.
You may have used a different email in the adoption application than what you use for your Treats Rewards account. If this happens, you can either change the email address of your Treats Rewards account in the app or you can contact PetSmart customer care for assistance.
What other ways can I earn VIPP status?
