Rated 1 out of 5 by newbie2017 from Instructions are a joke, no website support at all We bought this TopFin Canister filter from Petsmart and are trying to set it up this weekend. The paper directions from the box are incomprehensible. We found zero support on YouTube, Petsmart.com, or Top Fin. Top Fin doesn't even have a website. Do we leave the filter medium in the net bags? Remove the net bags? The paper instructions say nothing to this question. If we can't set this up by trial and error, we will have to return it for refund and try another filter. This is our first large tank and the PetSmart associate suggested this canister filter. We have no experience with canister filters, and are at the mercy of the paper instructions or video instructions found online. Thus, this filter as far as we have experienced is not worth a penny.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Chuck Vickery from worst filter I've ever bought. I bought the medium Top Fin canister. Reading the instructions I found you can't order parts for it. It says see the dealer. No power to the flow. Went through the trouble shooting and still very slow. The Top Fin carbon suggested is never availablle. The manager was a great guy. Even special ordered it for me but was not available. The image for the medium floss filters is incorrect on the box. It shows the small floss which is cut differently and will not work. So I bought the large one withe the correct image. Had to return it. Fed up and talked with the manager and was able to return it all and bought a Marineland. The folks working the stores are great. Corporate management makes it difficult for them to do their jobs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Brian23 from can not get to prime I bought this because my last canister filter broke. I can't get the canister to prime, as others have said the instructions are a joke, there is no help anywhere on the internet on how to set up this filter. I'm thinking about returning this filter

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rotaxwarrior from Both sizes are great I now own both Top Fin Canisters along with another brand on a 150gal koi tank. They both take a bit to prime, but once the syphon is created they stay primed. Smaller version is a 4stage, larger is a 3 stage with huge volume for bio-media. Both have high flow rate and are very quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by shane19 from Dont buy it. I was "fortunate" enough to get it to prime once. Later, I cleaned it and tried to prime with no luck. So now I am unable to take it back AND it doesn't work. Guess its time for sponge filters again. Should have read reviews first or known not to shop at petsmart.

How does it prime? The instructions don't make any sense.
