Trying to make your aquarium feel more like home for your new fish? Time to decorate! One of the best ways to beautify your underwater pet’s habitat is to introduce live aquatic plants to your aquarium to give your fish added security and shelter. Placing aquatic plants in your aquarium has many benefits, including:
- Keeping your tank cleaner (when set up properly)
- Giving your fish a more beautiful place to call home
- Providing additional oxygen
- Absorbing carbon dioxide and ammonia
At PetSmart, we know how important your finned friends are to you, which is why we offer a wide array of live aquatic plants for aquariums. Plant availability is seasonal. Customize your waterscape with safe and natural live plants, bulbs and dried leaves to spruce up your pet’s humble abode.
No matter what your aqua-scaping style is, PetSmart has what you need. With classics like Umbrella Palm, Banana Lily, Peacock Fern, Water Wisteria, Green Mondo Grass, Moneywort, Anubias, Bamboo, and more, you’ll find all the supplies you need to make sure your new pet adventure goes swimmingly. Some aquatic plants can be easily transplanted and root directly in the substrate while others grow from bulbs. Some live fully submerged while others need some portion kept out of the water and can be mounted to rocks or other decor. To ensure the healthiest environment for your aquatic plants, be sure to research their substrate, fertilizer and light requirements.
