DESCRIPTION: Hyalovet Injection uses Hyaluronate Sodium to treat carpal or fetlock joint dysfunction associated with acute or chronic non-infectious synovitis caused by equine osteoarthritis.
Key Benefits:
Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan and mucopolysaccharide prototype. Repeating N-acetyl-D-glucosamine disaccharide and D-glucuronic acid units are linked by beta 1-3 and beta 1-4 glycosidic bonds. Hyaluronic acid is known to be present in every mamma's connective tissue. It is viscoelastic and lubricating, allowing it to support the synovial fluid and the integrity of the cartilage. This product is injected, where it begins to improve joint function and activates tissue repair within the articular cartilage. Hyaluronate Sodium is a clear, colorless, and viscous solution that contains a highly pure, very specific fraction of hyaluronic acid from rooster comb molecular filtration. This hyaluronic acid fraction has a high molecular definition (between 500,000 and 730,000).
Formulated For: Intended for horses only.
How is Medication Given?
Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product. Recommended dosage rate is 2 mL for small to medium joints (such as fetlock or carpus) administered intra-articularly. You may treat more than one joint simultaneously. Repeat 1 to 2 weeks later, if needed, but do not administer more than 2 injections weekly for a 4-week period. Remove excess synovial fluid before injecting. Use strict aseptic technique to inject. For optimal results, allow for limited exercise or 2 days of rest for treated horses before allowing them to resume their training.
