Formulated For: Intended for horses only.

How is Medication Given? Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.

What Results Can I Expect? Dormosedan is safe for use in a variety of minor surgical and diagnostic procedures.

What Form Does Medication Come In? Injectable

Dose and Administration: Sold as a 5 mL or 20 mL vial (for injection) or a 3 mL gel (for oral administration).

Possible Side Effects:

  • Partial AV and SA blocks may occur with decreased heart rate and respiratory rate.
  • Partial transient penile prolapse is possible.
  • Post administration, piloerection, sweating, salivation, and minor muscle tremors occur often.
  • Around 1 minute after injection, bradycardia occurs often.
  • Hypotension is often reported in animals receiving treatment with this drug.
  • About 45 to 60 minutes post-treatment, urination often occurs during the recovery process (which is dosage-dependent).
  • Incoordination or staggering may be noted for about 3 to 5 minutes post-injection until the animal regains their footing.
  • Because horses are known to lower their heads during sedation, head or facial edema and nasal discharge could occur. Holding the head in a gently elevated position can prevent these effects.

Precautions: Do not administer to horses intended for human consumption. Not for human use. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage Recommendations: Store in a dry and cool environment 59- 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C). Avoid sunlight.

In Case of Overdose: Contact the nearest emergency pet clinic.
