DESCRIPTION:

Thyro-Tabs Canine treats hypothyroidism. The only treatment approved by the FDA for canine use, this medication works as replacement therapy for dogs with inadequate production of thyroid hormone. Containing Levothyroxine Sodium, this product is of utmost quality, delivering T4 as a layer of physiological deiodination on T3.

    How is Medication Given?

  • Recommended initial daily dosage rate is 0.1 mg to 0.2 mg per 10 pounds of body weight, which can be dosed in a single daily dose or in two divided doses.
  • Dosages should be adjusted through T-4 blood level monitoring, which should take place at 4-week intervals. This is the best way to determine a proper maintenance dosage rate.
  • Typical daily maintenance dosage rate is 0.1 mg per 10 pounds of body weight.
  • For the majority of dogs weighing more than 80 pounds, a max daily dose of 0.8 mg to 1 mg should suffice.
  • Orally administer or combine with food.

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Tablet

    Dose and Administration: Sold as a 120-count bottle of tablets in 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, or 1 mg.

    Possible Side Effects: Keep administering and monitor your pet if they show signs of:

  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Cough
  • Decreased appetite
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea and/or vomiting Diarrhea Itching or rash Consult your vet if your dog shows signs of:
  • Personality changes
  • Trouble sleeping

    If your dog experiences any of the following signs of an allergic reaction, which can be a serious emergency, pursue immediate treatment:

  • Throat closing
  • Hives
  • Allergies (swollen lips, face, or tongue)
  • Difficulty breathing

    Other reactions are also possible. Tell your veterinarian about any bothersome or unusual reactions.

    Precautions Overdose should be avoided, as it may cause: Polydipsia, Polyuria, Polyphagia, Hyperactivity, Decreased heat tolerance, Personality changes. Administer with caution to dogs with clinically significant heart disease or hypertension, or dogs with dangerous complications and increased metabolic rates.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location between 15 degrees C and 30 degrees C (59 degrees F and 86 degrees F). Shield from sunlight.
