    DESCRIPTION

    K-BroVet Potassium Bromide Oral Solution is a prescription medication that uses Potassium Bromide to help manage epileptic seizure conditions in dogs. The butterscotch vanilla-flavored oral solution is easy to administered. It is a prescription medication that is not FDA-approved.

    How is Medication Given?

  • For a serum level around 1 mg per mL, orally administer a loading dose of 120 mg for every kg of body weight daily for a 5-day period. Thereafter, reduce to a dose of 30 mg per kg daily.
  • For a serum level around 1.5 mg per mL, orally administer a loading dose of 160 mg for every kg of body weight daily for a 5-day period. Thereafter, reduce to a dose of 40 mg per kg daily.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Liquid

    Dose and Administration: Sold in a 2-ounce or 10-ounce bottle (250 mg per mL).

    Possible Side Effects: Potential adverse reactions include:

  • Pancreatitis (in dogs taking concomitant Phenobarbital or Bromide)
  • Changes in personality (attention seeking, irritability, aggression, or aimless pacing)
  • Nausea (at high dosage rates)
  • Constipation
  • Anorexia
  • Vomiting
  • Increased hunger
  • Increased thirst
  • Increased urination
  • Uncoordinated movements
  • Drowsiness (which disappears after 3 weeks)

    Precautions:

  • Never administer to a cat.
  • Adverse reactions are more likely to occur in geriatric dogs. Therefore, administer with caution if you have a senior dog.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool, dry place between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F)
