DESCRIPTION:

Adequan Canine is an FDA-approved, injectable medication that controls symptoms associated with non-infectious degenerative or traumatic arthritis after joint surgery or in the synovial joints.

How is Medication Given? Never combine with any other solvent or drug. Never exceed the recommended therapeutic regimen or dosage rate. Typical recommended dosage rate is 2 mg per pound of body weight administered intramuscularly two times per week for a max of 8 injections (4 weeks).

What Results Can I Expect? Adequan helps rapidly improve the mobility of the joints following surgery. It is also useful in controlling symptoms of degenerative joint disease or traumatic joint arthritis.

What Form Does Medication Come In? Injectable

Dose and Administration: Sold as a single or a 2-pack of vials, each containing 5 mL (100 mg per mL).

Possible Side Effects: In very few cases, studied dogs have experienced mild, self-limiting side effects, including: Bleeding abnormalities; Transient diarrhea; Transient pain at the injection site. These side effects do not require treatment.

Precautions: Do not give to dogs who have a known hypersensitivity to synthetic steroids (PSGAGs). Do not give to dogs with known or suspected bleeding disorders. Use caution in administering to dogs who have renal or hepatic impairment.

Storage Recommendations: Keep vial temperature below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F).
