About this item
DESCRIPTION:

Drontal Plus contains Pyrantel Pamoate, Praziquantel, and Febantel for anthelmintic, broad-spectrum parasite protection. The chewable tablets work to remove tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis, Echinococcus granulosus, and Echinococcus multilocularis), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum and Uncinaria stenocephala), ascarids/roundworms (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina), and whipworms (Trhichuris vulpis).

Key Benefits: Drontal Plus Taste Tabs contain Praziquantel, Pyrantel Pamoate, and Febantel.

  • Praziquantel combats cestodes (tapeworms).
  • The liver absorbs, metabolizes, and excretes this ingredient in the bile.
  • After making its way to the digestive tract via the bile, cestode activity is inhibited.
  • Tapeworms can no longer resist digestion when they are exposed to Praziquantel, so whole tapeworms are typically never seen.
  • Instead, disintegrate or partially digested tapeworms may be found in dog's stool.
  • Most tapeworms will be digested and never make their way to the feces.
  • Pyrantel Pamoate combats hookworms and ascarids.
  • It works by affecting the nematode's cholinergic receptors, resulting in spastic paralysis.
  • The peristaltic activity of your pet's intestinal tract will ultimately eliminate the parasites.
  • Febantel combats whipworms and other nematodes. It is rapidly metabolized, then absorbed throughout the body.
  • It is shown to block parasite energy metabolism, leading to energy exchange breakdown and glucose uptake inhibition.

Formulated For: For dogs and puppies aged 3 weeks or older and 2lbs and up.

  • These tablets are palatable for most dogs, and they can be hand-fed. You may also combine them with a small portion of food.
  • Do not fast your dog before treatment.
  • If you live in a climate where reinfection is likely, steps should be taken to maximize prevention, or retreatment could be required.

    Precautions

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
  • Dogs who received elevated Febantel and Praziquantel levels (treated for 6 days in a row at triple the recommended dose) during the early stages of pregnancy are at an enhanced risk of abortion and fetal abnormalities. Safe use in pregnant animals has not been proven, so this medication should not be given to a pregnant animal.
  • Take hygiene precautions when handling dogs or the feces of dogs who could have E. multilocularis infections. Dogs treated over a 28-day interval or undergoing their first treatment with this product may shed eggs in the feces after treatment. Animals should be kept in clinic during treatment, and feces should be incinerated or autoclaved. If this is not feasible, the eggs can be destroyed by soaking feces in a sodium hypochlorite (bleach) solution at 3.7% or greater strength.
  • Clean any holding or treatment areas with sodium hypochlorite. Thorough cleansing, then thorough drying are required before reusing or re-entering the area.

Storage Recommendations: Keep product temperature below 25 degrees C (77 degrees F).

In Case of Overdose: Contact the nearest emergency pet clinic.
