    DESCRIPTION:

    Atopica is used to treat eczema (chronic atopic dermatitis). This revolutionary medication is prescribed to control this common allergy-related skin disease.

    How is Medication Given? Dosing Recommendations for Dogs Over 4 Pounds and Over 6 Months Old:

  • 4 to 6.5 Pounds: 10 mg Capsule (1)
  • 6.6 to 9 Pounds: 10 mg Capsules (2)
  • 9.1 to 16 Pounds: 25 mg Capsules (2) or 50 mg Capsule (1)
  • 16.1 to 33 Pounds: 50 mg Capsule (1)
  • 33.1 to 64 Pounds, 64.1 to 79 Pounds, 79.1 to 121 Pounds: 100 mg Capsules (2)
  • Recommended daily dose is 5 mg per kg of body weight daily for a 30-day period.
  • After the initial 30 days of treatment, decrease dosing frequency to twice weekly or every other day until the minimum possible dosage level is reached for the desired effect.
  • Administer a minimum of 2 hours following or 1 hour prior to a meal.
  • If you miss a dose, administer the next regularly scheduled dose immediately. Never double dose, and never administer this medication more than once per day.

    What Results Can I Expect? Atopica is an FDA-approved medication that directly targets the source of disease. It works to treat without steroids, reducing the symptoms associated with skin allergies and relieving skin itch and rash.

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Capsules

    Dose and Administration: Atopica is sold as a 15-unit blister pack in strengths of 10, 25, 50, or 100 mg.

    Possible Side Effects: Rarely, vomiting or diarrhea have been reported. During initial phases, gingival hyperplasia or papillomas have also been reported.

    Storage Recommendations: Store and dispense in the original unit-dose container at room temperature between 15-25 degrees C (59 and 77 degrees F).
