    DESCRIPTION:

    Silver Sulfadiazine is useful in treating and preventing severe infections. This Sulfonamide antibiotic medication is directly applied onto the skin to treat burns (second- or third-degree).

    Key Benefits:

    How is Medication Given?

  • When applying this product to a fresh wound, the gauze may turn brown due to cream contact. This is a normal occurrence.
  • Use a sufficient amount of cream to completely cover wound - about 1/6-inch thick.
  • Prevent foreign debris from entering the wound or cream by dressing in an enclosed space or room with low air circulation. Apply cream to gauze, then cut an appropriately-sized dressing to cover the wound. A sterile or disposable instrument should be used.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.

    What Results Can I Expect? Silver Sulfadiazine works to prevent infection of burn wounds, relieves itch, and is useful in defending against Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus.

    What Form Does Medication Come In?Creme

    Dose and Administration: Each container includes 400 grams of Silver Sulfadiazine Cream (1%).

    Possible Side Effects: Potential adverse reactions include:

  • Pain
  • Burning
  • Itching

    Less likely potential adverse reactions include:

  • Skin necrosis
  • Erythema multiforme
  • Skin discoloration
  • Burning sensation
  • Rash
  • Interstitial nephritis

    Precautions: Administer cautiously to a pregnant or lactating female. Do not administer to animals with an allergy to this drug or sulfites.

    Storage Recommendations: Store at room temperature. Do not expose to moisture. Do not freeze.

    In Case of Overdose: Call your nearest emergency pet hospital.
