    DESCRIPTION:

    Mycophenolate Mofetil is a powerful immunosuppressant that manages many diseases. It is often used after organ transplants and in animals with autoimmune disorders. Those conditions cause a pet's body to produce antibodies that combat the body itself. This medication can also be used in dogs with immune-mediated hemolytic anemia.

    Dose and Administration: Capsules are sold individually in a single strength (250 mg).

    Possible Side Effects: Potential adverse reactions include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Inappetence

    Because of its immunosuppressant qualities, pets could become more susceptible to infections. This medication can also increase the animal's risk of some cancers, such as lymphoma.

    Precautions:

  • Wear gloves or wash hands thoroughly after handling this medication or the urine of a treated pet.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
  • Not for use in pregnant animals, as an enhanced risk of first trimester pregnancy loss and congenital malformation exists.
  • Only administer under veterinarian supervision.

    Storage Recommendations: Store at room temperature between 20 degrees to 25 degrees C (68 degrees to 77 degrees F). Excursions permitted to 15 degrees C to 30 degrees C (59 degrees F to 86 degrees F).
