Not proven safe for use in breeding, lactating, or pregnant animals, or in cats who are positive for heartworms. Never use in a kitten under the age of 6 weeks or weighing less than 1.5 pounds. Short-term, mild hypersensitivity can occur in dogs with a large number of circulating microfilariae, which involves signs like lethargy, salivation, vomiting, or labored breathing. This is thought to be the result of protein release from dying or dead microfilariae. Before initiating treatment, dogs should receive a heartworm test. If an infection is found, treatment to remove heartworms should be pursued before starting treatment with this medication. Never administer to a puppy under 4 weeks old or weighing less than 2 pounds. Keep out of reach of animals and children.
