    DESCRIPTION

    Metoprolol is a blood pressure medication that may be administered independently or concomitantly with other drugs. It treats high blood pressure, prevents angina (chest pain), and treats heart attacks.

    Key Benefits: Metoprolol works by relaxing the blood vessels and slowing the heart rate. This prevents over-pumping of the heart.

    Possible Side Effects:

  • Metoprolol is considered safe and effective with a prescription from a veterinarian. However, certain animals could experience an adverse reaction.
  • Do not administer tohypersensitive or allergic animals.
  • If your pet collapses during treatment, pursue emergency treatment.
  • Consult your vet and tell him or her about all other medications your pet is taking prior to initiating treatment with Metoprolol. Interactions may occur with many medications, including furosemide, insulin, and calcium channel blockers.
  • Weakness may occur in treated pets because of a slow heart rate or low blood pressure. Rarely, animals could faint.
  • Administer cautiously to an animal with congestive heart failure.

    Precautions: Keep away from children.

    Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location.
