    DESCRIPTION:

    Acetylcysteine 20% Solution, USP is orally-administered as an antidote to Acetaminophen, or inhaled as a mucolytic agent. It is also available in a sterile, unpreserved solution (not for injection). It acts as a mucolytic to clear material and mucus that can affect breathing.

    Dose and Administration: Sold in a vial containing 30 mL.

    Possible Side Effects: With a prescription from a veterinarian, Acetylcysteine is proven safe and effective. Certain animals may experience an adverse reaction, such as drooling or nausea.

    Precautions:

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
  • Do not inject.
  • Tell your veterinarian about all other medications your pet is taking prior to use, as interactions may occur, particularly with product containing activated charcoal.
  • This product should not be used in an animal with acetaminophen toxicity, as safety has not been proven.
  • Administer cautiously if your pet has lung disease or is predisposed to airway spasm, as this can cause spasms in the lower airway.
  • Do not administer to a hypersensitive animal.

    Storage Recommendations: Store at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C). After opening contents, refrigeration is required between 36 degrees F - 46 degrees F (2 degrees C and 8 degrees C). Color changes may occur, this does not affect efficacy. After 96 hours of an open vial, discard.
