About this item
DESCRIPTION:

Clavamox Chewable Tablets contain potentiated penicillin. They are useful in treating infections associated with susceptible bacteria. In cats, Clavamox is often prescribed to treat urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue infections, such as wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, and dermatitis. In dogs, it is often prescribed to treat skin and soft tissue infections, such as periodontal disease, wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, superficial pyoderma, juvenile pyoderma, and deep pyoderma.

Key Benefits:

  • The two active ingredients of Clavamox are Amoxicillin and Clavulanate.
  • Together, these antibiotic ingredients offer broad-spectrum activity against a number of bacteria.
  • Amoxicillin works to stop bacteria from creating cell walls, and Clavulanate works to force certain bacteria, which are resistant to Amoxicillin, to weaken and succumb to the ingredient.

Formulated For: Intended for cats and dogs.

    How is Medication Given?

  • Soft tissue or skin infections, including dermatitis, cellulitis, or abscesses, should be treated for a 5- to 7-day period, or for 48 hours following the disappearance of all symptoms.
  • Do not administer for more than 30 days.
  • If the pet does not appear to be responding to treatment after 3 days, withdraw treatment and have your veterinarian re-evaluate your pet.
  • If the animal does not begin to respond within a few days (3 days for cats and 5 days for dogs), treatment should be withdrawn and the veterinarian should re-evaluate the case.
  • For cats, the recommended dosage rate is 62.5 mg administered twice daily.
  • For dogs, the recommended dosage rate is 6.25 mg per pound administered twice daily.
  • Treatment for deep pyoderma could require up to 21 days of extended treatment.
  • Treatment for urinary tract infections could require 10 to 14 days of extended treatment.
  • Prescription dosage should be calculated in whole-tablet strengths (for example, 62.5 mg or 375 mg).
  • Wait to remove the tablet from the foil strip until it is time to administer.
  • Ensure that the full tablet is consumed, even when broken.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.
