The flow of the filter would be great for a betta. I use this tank for my guppies and Mystery snail. I have the tank planted so I do not always have to vacuum the substrate so being able to do water changes without pulling out the water vacuum isn’t great. there is a good amount of space in the back for additional filter media. I keep cuttle bone there for extra calcium for my snail. There is a space for the filter plug to come out of the lid at the back and then there’s a space opposite of it that I use for the plug from my tank heater and aerator tube, which is perfect but sometimes the lid does not sit all the way down because they are not big enough openings. The wall separating the actual tank space from the posterior filter space does not reach the lid so my guppy, Spyro, was jumping to the back every night. Luckily he was pretty safe back there, whereas other filters are very dangerous. I DIY’ed an extension to the wall to stop him. The great thing about the outflow of the filter is that there is a little plate it flows into. My mystery snail,Oreo, loves to venture back there and it is easier for me to pluck him right out.
Date published: 2019-04-08

Rated 5 out of 5 by Artymuse from Great starter tank! I've had my tank for almost a month now. It currently houses a large plakat Betta, 3 white cloud mountain minnows and a couple ghost shrimp. It's live planted with Fluval stratum. It's a very pretty tank with the internal plastic divider wall hiding the pump, filter and added heater. I do wish the pump outflow was adjustable; it's perfect for Bettas, but I'd like the option for a little more strength. I put an air stone in the back for increased water circulation/aeration. Though it's a little slow, I like the easy water change spicket. I do plan to replace the lid with clear acrylic so I can add a stronger light for the live plants since only 6 LEDs are on the included one. Glad I got it on sale ($40). Not sure I'd pay full price. So far, so good!
Date published: 2019-05-18

Rated 5 out of 5 by StirCrazyBeagleS77 from Love these tanks My son has a smaller version of this tank in black. Setup was easy aside from finding space for a heater in the back compartment. I would definitely recommend a flatter heater for use in the back chamber. There's lots of room for additional sponges or bio rings, so filtration upgrades will be a breeze. Water flow is very gentle and does not inhibit the betta's swimming at all. 4 stars for the awkward width of the back compartment and cheap-feeling hood, but otherwise, a very nice starter tank that can be upgraded easily!
Date published: 2019-05-11

Rated 5 out of 5 by katie5677 from Love the easy filtration system I'm extremely happy with this tank. I don't usually review stuff but this thing is rad. Bought the tank a few months ago to house my betta fish. The ease of water changing with the hydro-change system is incredible--so much so that I don't ever want to buy another tank that doesn't have this feature. Adjustable filter flow is also a great feature (make sure to read the manual, I didn't even realize I could adjust the flow at first). I have six or seven plants in here as well as the betta, and it's the perfect size. Since putting him in the tank (moved him from a different tank), the fish's fins have significantly improved in pigmentation and structure, and he's building massive bubble nests!
Date published: 2019-10-23

Rated 5 out of 5 by grace996 from Great small fish tank! This is a small but very nice fish tank! It was easy enough to figure out but it would've been nice to just look on the site and have it written in text. Oh well. Anyway, my betta Gus seems very content in his 5 gallon home, he's always working on his bubble nest. With it's modern aesthetic, I think this tank is very pleasant to look at. The LEDs are strong enough for my live plants, I do, however, wish there was a blue option. The flow from the air pump isn't too much, even for a long-finned betta like my Gus. When I purchased the tank I was excited about the built-in water exchange feature but I haven't used it once, haha! So since I've just been doing it the old-fashioned way with a gravel vacuum, I can't speak on it's efficacy. The filtration system works very well and cleaning has been minimal even for it's small size. It's also extremely quiet, you'd barely know it was running if it weren't for the slight disturbance at the water's surface. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and definitely recommend it to anyone who's on the fence about it.
Date published: 2019-05-04

Top Fin® Engage™ 5 Gallon Aquarium Reviews - page 2

y_2019, m_11, d_10, h_20

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.0

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_0, tr_22

loc_en_US, sid_54158, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=HELPFULNESS, direction=DESCENDING), SortEntry(order=POSITIVE_FEEDBACK, direction=DESCENDING), SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_petsmart

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 81ms

reviews, product
