Things to Remember

Adding Fish
Whether you're just starting your aquarium or introducing new fish to your tank, don't forget to add only 1-3 at a time.

Choose a vegetable-based flake or pellet food. Feed according to the directions on the packaging.

Specialty Foods
Vary their diet by including frozen or freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex worms and other small worms, mosquito larvae and daphnia. Always remember to thaw frozen foods before feeding.

Frequent feedings
For optimum health, feed your livebearers as much food as they will consume in 1-3 minutes, twice a day. You can alternate between regular staple diet feedings and 2-4 meals per week of a specialty food.

Livebearers should be kept in a large aquarium, with surface area being more important than depth. Minimum aquarium size should be 10 gallons. A good rule of thumb is one gallon of water for every one inch of full-grown fish.

Decorate their aquarium with lots of live, bunch plants. Be sure to place them on the sides and back of the aquarium so they'll have enough space to swim in the center.

Livebearers need well-oxygenated water, but do not like forceful water motion.

Mollies require a small amount of salt in their aquarium. Add two teaspoons of aquarium salt per gallon of water This will not harm other types of fish living in the aquarium.

Fish compatibility
Livebearers can share their aquarium with other tropical community fish of similar size and temperament, as long as they share similar water requirements.

Note: Pet availability is seasonal. State and local regulations may vary. Pricing may vary by store location. PetSmart stores cannot match the price above for this pet. Ask a store associate for details. These fascinating fish are livebearers who can rapidly reproduce in a community aquarium because they give birth to babies, rather than laying eggs. To aid in survival, provide hiding spaces for baby fish. Guppies are omnivores, which mean they eat both plan and animal matter, including small live foods and certain vegetables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a happy & crazy fish Have had Blizzard since early Oct. Put him in with my six fry that were born 9/5 with awesome results. He is super good with them and now as they are getting bigger they all swim together and make a great community. He buzzes the tank like a crazy fish but is super patient with the little ones and sets an awesome example!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very friendly and interactive these fish are full of personality, and are very friendly towards other fish. The only time they are semi aggressive towwards others are when they havebeen alone in a large tank, and lots of others have joined them. Over all, it would be a mistake to not buy these fancy fish :)

They can live with  goldfish ?

No. Goldfish are a cold water fish. Guppies are a tropical fish. The temperatures needed for goldfish would be way too cold for guppies.

No fish can be ordered online and then shipped to you. They might come dead or so stressed that they die soon afterward.

Do they need a tank heater?

Asked by: Melinda1
All fish need heaters. Depending on the temperature in your home and the season aquarium water temperature obviously changes. It's not good for any fish to have the temp fluctuate throughout the day and night. Need stable temperature all the time!!

Can you put guppys in a one gallon tank?

Asked by: Fish girl 18
No fish should be in a one gallon tank. Guppies aren’t as hardy as Bettas so they can’t live in a one gallon tank. They are quite sensitive
