Danios can share their aquarium with other community aquarium fish of similar size and temperament. Instead of plants, they eat aquatic crustaceans, worms and aquatic insect larvae. Danios are schooling fish that like to swim in groups and should be kept with three or more other fish of the same species. You will see them swimming in the middle of your aquarium. To create a beautiful aquarium environment, be sure to add some top and bottom swimmers as well. Ask a PetSmart associate to help you choose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like Zany Cartoons In A Tank I fought getting zebra danios for a long time because they looked so boring in the store. Little did I know that when you get them at home for a while, they turn into a gorgeous dark black and taupe stripe with lovely iridescence that is really exciting. These guys are comedians! They NEVER stop moving and always chase each other around like a bunch of crazy teenagers on a field trip filmed in super high speed! I especially love the long fin version because they have a tendency to flap their fins like really full wings and coast through the water easily like a bird in the sky. They get along really well with other danios- including glo fish danios, and eat well too. I really do enjoy them and find them so entertaining. My whole family sits and watches them- I have them in several tanks. I have also had single danios in a tank (rest died off) but they do better with other danios as they really need to have someone to chase at high speed. Not even guppy males fit the bill for these guys as far as speed and entertainment value!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from takes awhile... for this fish to settle in. I purchased 2 together and they were very aggressive with everyone. I immediately set out to catch them and return but they are Impossible to catch. Anyhow, 1 died within 2 days and now 3 weeks later the other has sort of calmed down. I probably wouldn't get another just cuz I don't like the temperament but I give 4 stars for being a cute active fish.
