Many fish keepers love mystery snails for their amazing variety of different colored shells and their strange, yet interesting antics. They are fascinating to watch as they come up for air and, best of all, they earn their keep by clearing up any rotting vegetation from your aquarium plants as well as algae from the glass.

Crawlers
Snails will adhere to the aquarium glass and crawl up the sides of the tank.

Multiplying snails
Snails readily reproduce in an aquarium environment.

Décor
Live aquatic plants arebeneficial for snails, which will graze on their leaves.

Compatibility
Snails can be kept in most tanks, but some gouramis, skunk loaches and other large fish may eat smaller snails.

Staple diet
Although snails will move along the surfaces of the aquarium scraping green algae with their mouths, they will also accept all kinds of commercial flake and pellet foods.

Frequent feedings
For optimum health, feed your aquatic invertebrates as much food as they will consume in 1-3 minutes, twice a day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Snails One may wonder why you would want to pay to buy a snail; however, they are very calm and interesting to watch. They are usually active in the tank at night or in the morning. I have one snail in a 3.5 gallon fish tank with my beta fish and they get along perfectly. The color of the snail is beautiful. I highly recommend getting a snail. It is an added bonus that they keep the tank clean.

Do these snails reproduce? I bought 1 and I’m scared it will start laying eggs everywhere

Asked by: Kristina_pal
These snails require brackish water to have viable eggs. (they will lay the eggs but they will not hatch)

I got my snail today and it has not come out of its shell .when I got it was moving around at petsmart and now it is just there .how long will it take to come out of its shell

Asked by: Helpmepls
Depends on how long it takes for it to become comfy in its new environment. Some take longer than others. The reason it was out of its shell when u seen it in the store was bc it became used to its surroundings. Just give it time and it will begin to feel at home. I see that this question is a month old now but i thought id still chime in! Good luck ☺
