GloFish are not dyed, they possess a natural fluorescence gene and their color won't fade. They absorb light and re-emit it which creates the impression that they are glowing. GloFish were developed by adding a natural fluorescence gene to a zebra danio egg. The offspring incorporated the gene and continued to pass it down to its own offspring.

GloFish are hardy, community fish that get along well with other fish species, but be careful when combining other fish with GloFish, as not all fish are friendly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adds a great spark to my tank beautiful fish, I have four (one each of green, blue, yellow, and red). They are very pretty and add a nice spark of color to my tank, always swimming around, and are colorful with or without my blacklight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun to watch I have 9 glofish ( 3 of each color). When I first got them one was so small and they seem to grow so fast that I can no longer tell which one was my baby. These fish are really fun to watch. Some people say they bully the other fish, but they really don't, they just want to play and sometimes the other fish aren't in the mood. Mine were all spawning the other day which was really neat to watch. I'm not sure if all the eggs were gobbled up but we'll see if a new colored speck shows up soon. I really do love my glowfish and they are great tank companions for neon tetras, cory cats and platys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get 2 in every color! I started a black light tank and got Neon Tetras and GloFish! I love to watch them play tag, chase and have fun. They are all very vibrant except for the blue. They have to be right under the black light to be vibrant. I feed them tropical flakes. I would recommend GloFish for anyone!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very cool!!!!!!!! i got three a couple of days ago and they are so funny they will run for hours in circles, and then stop and it seems like they vanished because they are so small but actually just taking like a five second nap just to run in circles again. I got a purple (lilac), green (aloe), and orange (fanta). the green and orange rest a lot and purple never stops the purple will start freaking out and does not know what to do and as soon as another one comes out of hiding he will start chasing them again. i recommend them for any new aquariums very low maintenance and do not grow very big. make sure you get a black light with them so you can see them glow!!!!! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best fish Very Pretty especially without the aquarium light on. The don't die from missing tank cleanings like other fish do. I have 2 now but I have owned 5 and all except one lasted a year or are almost a year. Only had one bad one that past away the day after we got him but petsmart took it back and gave us another and this time he was a baby and still living after a long time of having him
