Blue Wag Platy

Platy fish are members of the genus Xiphophorus, just like swordtails. There are two types of platy fish, the Southern Platy and the Variatus platy. This website lists variatus separately, however many varieties are in fact hybrids of the two. Like the Molly, Guppy, and Swordtails, platy fish give birth to live young that are miniature versions of the adult fish. These are excellent community residents and are available in a large variety of colors and patterns.
