Black Racer Nerite Snail is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good worker I research before I buy and everything I read was true. They are really good cleaners. One thing I found out after is that they are mostly nocturnal. I thought it was just this guy, but I read on other threads that it is not unusual. For the first 2 days I saw it moving along. But then I only saw it at night "racing" across the glass, During the day it'll spend time under the sand. Which is a good thing since it cleans the bottom and churns the sand. Maybe if you have gravel you'll see him more. But if you have sand, it'll rarely show. Oh well, at least I know that under the sand is getting cleaned. I'm not sorry I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They weren’t kidding when they said these guys were fast. Its always a blast to watch them chase each other around the tank. My bigger one, Charlie, burrows during the day and comes out at night, while Charolette works double time and cleans 24/7. With my 6 Cory cats, I must say they all keep this tank well kept and clean. My betta, Pyro doesn’t seem to mind at all;) if you want good entertainment, good tankmates, and a squeaky clean tank, these are the guys for you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They like to escape I bought two of these for a 20 gallon freshwater tank. 85% of the time, they are above the water line, and every day I have to do a "snail search" because they keep escaping the tank. I have found them on the back on the filter housing and on the outsides of the tank. One of them escapes most often, so we've named him/her "Houdini." But they do seem to be keeping algae in check, tank looks clean and water is clear. I wish I had been told they they like to escape the tank, I maybe would have reconsidered purchasing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great snail! These guys are great little cleaners and fun to watch! I feel they are a necessity in a tank so that maintaining your tank is made so much easier! They are super hard workers when it comes to algae and cleaning! I will say a word of caution though, they do leave little white eggs all over your tank from time to time which is the only con I would say about them. These eggs are difficult to get off; but I use a non scratch cleaning pad that has a plastic type coating on it that I buy at the grocery store and it does a great job of removing the eggs with no damage to the aquarium glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So fast! I bought this today, and the moment I put him (or her) in the tank, they just got to work! The tank is already a lot cleaner! He/She is very active too, barely even rests. Just cleans away. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cleaners I got 3 of these guys for my 20 gallon tank. I was having a lot of algae in my tank that I was constantly cleaning. I even cut down on my lighting with no results. I put these guys in and they went to work. I no longer have the green algae. They however do not help with the black beard algae on my plants. I'm going to try another kind of nerite snail for that (along with co2).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hard worker! this snail is a really hard worker! When my filter broke, i was scared like crazy. Not for the fish, because i used an air stone for filtration. So i got some snails. This one is the best worker out of all 5! he was always on the glass, unlike the others, and left a nice cleaning trail in the algae. Hard worker. Highly recommended.

Can this snail be in the same tank as a male beta? And that does it eat?

Asked by: Findingnemo123
I have mine in with my male beta fish and they do great together no issues so far! I’m not sure your second question but the snail eats algae that I provide for my tank as the my beta tank doesn’t have any naturally

Can you feed them any fish food and if so how often?

Asked by: Alexissnails
These guys are content to eat algae within your tank: but if your tank is already pretty clean, or in the event that they have it under control in your tank, you can feed them algae wafers to help supplement their diet.

Do they breed in freshwater? How fast do they breed if they do?

Asked by: Mad139
They do lay eggs in freshwater, but they need brackish water to hatch. The eggs look like little white dots.
