Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sale price???????? I have recently found this food for my buddy of which he absolutely loves it. Not to mention, he seems to have no allergic reactions too. The problem is that when I see a sale on this food I of course take a look to see if it is actually a sale. If anyone else were to look at this they would realize that this food is expensive and ISN'T on sale. If I remember correctly the last time I purchased this exact dog food it was a penny more than the sale price. I guess if it is now a penny less a can you can call it a sale. I have reached out to buy direct and I am awaiting to hear back from the company. I know if they allow a direct purchase the price per can will dramatically drop. I recommend this to other consumers. There is always someone else who is willing to gain your business. The food itself has been wonderful. I would ask Petsmart to see if their is something they can do about "sale" prices and the overall cost of their specialty dog food. Thank you. :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable food for irritable bowel in dog My standard poodle, now age 7 yr, had emergency surgery for volvulus at age 3 yr and biopsy showed inflammation suggesting inflammatory bowel disease. I did not take seriously the need for expensive, hypoallergenic food. As a result, he developed unknown intestinal bleeding that resulted in severe anemia and need for emergency transfusion. Once we began the venison-potato Royal Canin diet, he did very well. We have tried at times to switch to a less expensive option, but always had recurrance of decreased appetite and energy levels. With the sale of the company making this product and the change in the formula of the product to include more soy and less venison, I did not know what to expect. My dog has done very well on the new product. During a period of time when it seem unavailable, we tried substituting various things, but the decrease in appetite and energy was evident. I am sticking to this product. It works well for my dog.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ....poor production quality My chihuahua has IBD. This was prescribed for him by his vet.. I reluctantly agreed and was surprised that he actually liked it. I can't tell if it has helped his IBD because he is still on prednisone. Just a warning about the quality. There is obviously a production problem, as I have found pieces of white plastic in separate cans. This is not acceptable and will be looking for a product I can trust.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning! Problem with production My dog likes this food and I was happy with it until I found substantial pieces of plastic in several cans. Beware! I won't recommend until they recall the bad lot and replace with better quality product.

Has the Royal Canin Selected Protein PV in cans and dry been discontinued? If not, is there any date when it will be back in stock?
