Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth It My boy is 4 years old and for his 1st 3 years we went through ear infections, hair loss, hives, and countless medications due to him having flea, seasonal, and food allergies. When he first started on this food I was very scepticle that it would work but after two months I started to see a very big difference in his skin and his ears. Since he has been on the food he has not had any ear infections and his skin looks amazing. I will admit that the food is expensive but it is well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for weight control I started using Royal Canin products when my dog Lucy (American Cocker Spaniel) got sick. We started her on the gastrointestinal caned dog food and stopped once she got better. Later on she developed food allergies. I tried other foods to no avail so I took her to her veterinarian and we started her on the Royal Canin hypoallergenic dry dog food. I started to see a change in her. She stopped scratching and her ears weren't so smelly. She later developed cataracts and cholesterol deposits in her eyes. I took her to a specialist and was advised that she would be on eye drops for the rest of her life but additionally I had to find a dog food low on fat. I spoke with her vet and she recommended the PW moderate calorie dry dog food. She is 8 years old and has been through a lot. when I found her she had demodex mange and severe ear infection. She later developed IMHA which is at bay and now the cataracts. She only has vision in one eye and gets around extremely well. Both my dogs are on PW Moderate calorie dog food. We can learn so much from animals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unique protein food We have had Molly on Royal Canin dog food since shortly after she joined our family. We quickly determined that she had an allergy for chicken, soy, and many items commonly in dog food. Molly has been on a unique protein Royal Canin product like this potato & whitefish (PW) for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My fur babies favorite! I needed to find fish based food for my Labradors skin, while it also had to be a good food for my little shih tzu as well. (He will only eat what his big sister eats.) There's only one name brand I trust with all my babies and that's Royal Canin

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save my IBD dog's life! My dog was prescribed this food after he was diagnosed with IBD and had lost 1/3 of his body mass 5 years ago! He has not had any flair-ups and has not had to change his diet since being on both the dry and canned versions of it. He looks great, has his energy back and is still alive and chasing anything that moves, thanks to this food! I highly recommend it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating Food--pieces are too large and hard It is frustrating to be prescribed a food for a dog's health only to be unable to use it because the product is inedible for the pet. First, the individual pieces are too large for a small or medium size dog. The pieces are so big, I would think there are some large dogs that would have a hard time swallowing them. Second, as if the huge size of the pieces isn't enough, each piece is rock hard. My dog gets so frustrated trying to swallow and chew this food that he spits it out, and this is a dog who is extremely food-motivated. I believe that my dog cracked a tooth trying to eat this food. For all their testing and "science," I have my doubts that Royal Canin did real-world tests to see if middle-aged small dogs could actually manage to eat this. These pieces are impossible to break apart. Even my younger dog, who has all his teeth, has a very hard time eating this food. I have taken a hammer to the food pieces and I have to whack them with all my might to even begin to break them up for my dog. It is difficult enough trying to get the appropriate care and food for a family pet, let alone adding the waste of time and frustration of buying an expensive food that your dog can't eat. Avoid our frustration (and wasted time and money) and research another food for your pet. Newsflash for Royal Canin--small and medium sized dogs need prescription food, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food for elder dog! My golden has significant allergies and IBD. After extensively researching dog foods, this was the only food that contained no chicken or poultry by products, and no glucosamine(as she is allergic to that, too). She loves this food and eats several small meals a day. The canned is great for giving meds, and she loves that too! I would highly recommend this food to anyone for a dog with digestive and allergy issues. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
