Rated 2 out of 5 by gwolf from Won't eat it I have used Iams dog food for the past 15 years. I have always found the product to be high quality and promoted a healthy dog. (My previous dog, a German Shepard lived for 17 years on Iams). And therefore I have always had the utmost respect for the products. However since the change in formula my dogs will no longer eat it. - It does not matter how great it is for you dog if they won't eat it anymore. Whatever was changed to make it "healthier" has made it unpalatable for my dogs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Patti from Why did I wait so long???!! I switched my two Shih Tzu's over to Senior Plus in the Spring '12. Not only did I see a change in their energy levels but I noticed during their quarterly hair trimming that their thinning coats were fuller and more robust in color. Seeing them playing again, running through the house & under the coffee tables at full speed, jumping on the bed again and overall more lively really made me grateful for this next level in my dogs' diets. I had seen the Senior Plus advertised, but was reluctant to move from the regular Iams since Iams has been their steady diet since they came home almost 12 years ago. But not only has it brought an obvious outward glow of health, but the bouts of loose stools and digestive issues have completely vanished!!! I would not hesitate in moving my older dogs over sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ItsMeWeezy from I can see the change in my old pup! When we rescued our dog, he was 4 years old. We had him on Beneful. As he got older we noticed he was starting to vomit about every other day. Not to the point of losing weight, but just small amounts her and there. I changed his food to the Blue Buffalo brand, when it came out with its "real" this and that claims. I noticed a small change. Then my dog hurt himself last year and we took him to the vet. That's when I found out that he was a "Senior" dog. Lol. The Dr. recommended putting him on a senior dog food because of the arthritis and other old people things he was starting to experience. We did that in August of 2015 and except from the dog flu he had a month ago, he hasn't had any tummy problems and has the pep back in his step.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BUD007 from REVITALIZED MY 14 YEAR OLD LAB MIX Doubled her energy level, improved her walking and running significantly in two weeks. Dog wakes me up almost every day at 3AM to eat more food. Amazing improvement with just a food change. Suggest you try just one bag to see if it helps your older dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mbur from Prince loves it! I bought this food to help him with his arthritis. He was eating Iams Healthy Naturals, but he picks that out and eats only the Proactive health now! He's not feeling his age (14) these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chico from Seeing a noticeable difference After a couple of weeks with IAMS Proactive Health Mature Small Breed it is amazing the difference it has made in our dog's energy, and I think has reduced some of his joint pain judging by the smoother way he's moving around. For the past three years he was always lagging way behind on our walks and pretty slow moving around the house. Now he's running and moving like he did 4 years ago. Amazing!

What age of the dog is considered mature adult
Asked by: Mayquela
IAMS we recommend switching to a "mature" recipe at about 6 or 7 years old and a "senior" recipe around 11 years old.
