I have a Chichuaua and a Poodle and this gate is perfect. I needed something wide to prevent the citters from sneeking into my formal dining room and doing naughty things. This gate is beautiful and does not detract from the beauty of my home. I love it so much I am ordering two more. The best part is I can put it together by myself and not have to wait for my husband to do it (which could take years or never). He happily took his position on the couch while I put it together not once needing his assistance, or heaven forbid, ask for his help.
Date published: 2008-08-05

Rated 5 out of 5 by pommon1 from Awesome Gate I purchased this to gate off a small pomeranian for a wide hallway and bought a second one for the stairs. Easy to put together. Excellent quality. It looks very nice and is really easy to move anywhere. Woodgrain makes the gate asthetically pleasing. It works very well for small dogs or just to deter pets. Medium or larger dogs could easily jump over it, but it does give them the message they are not to cross over. Also easy for people to step over. I love it and would highly recommend it.
Date published: 2009-01-12

Rated 4 out of 5 by DoxieMom83 from Doesn't Adjust I like this gate because it's not plastic or tacky looking, but it looks like in the picture it adjusts by just sliding it up and down and that is misleading because you secure it at the size you want or it doesn't stand up. I ordered a large and a small to corral our doxies and it works wonders and I'm not afraid of them getting stuck or hurt or knocking them over.
Date published: 2007-09-19

Rated 5 out of 5 by PourPete from Great Gates Ordered two of the "small" and one large gate for our new Miniature Schnauzer puppy. They were easy to set up and adjust the length for different doorways, and the wood looks much better than some of the other alternatives. They are also easily moved so Grammy doesn't have to step over them when she visits. They are also sturdy enough so our puppy can't knock them over or get around them.
Date published: 2009-02-02

Rated 5 out of 5 by GraciesMom from Love this gate! There were several things I was looking for in purchasing a new pet gate: 1. Short enough for me to easily walk over (I'm about 5'1") 2. Easy to handle/move around 3. Aesthetically pleasing I also wanted a gate that would be more user friendly for my neighbor. She has MS and our old gate was nearly impossible for her to take down and set up. It was also too high for her to simply walk over. That said, this is an exceptional pet gate, meeting all the needs above and one I would not hesitate to buy again. I had been using a cheap, ugly, hard-to-use, plastic baby gate and the looks of the gate alone have made having a gate up a pleasant experience. The hardwood on the gate is very high quality, but at the same time, not too heavy. We have maple floors and cherry wood furniture/cabinets throughout the entire house. This gate blends perfectly with our decor. Neighbors remark that our gate is fancy and beautiful. This makes it nice for storage because we can just place it in a corner of the dining room and it does not distract from the elegance of the room (previously, I would hide my old gate in the basement). The gate took me about 10 minutes to put together and I found it to be quite simple. This gate fit nicely within my 40 inch kitchen doorway and it is very easy to pick up and move when our dog has free reign in the house. In fact, it has been very easy for me to pick it up and bring it all over the house (I needed to block my dog off from areas of the house I was cleaning). This gate is also solid in that I don't see my dog knocking it down. While it is on the short side, my Shih Tzu does not even attempt to jump it. In fact, I don't think she could jump it if she tried. She can only jump on the couch with a running start and the height of the sofa is 17 inches. Richell does make this gate 7.5 inches taller that this gate, is is marketed as the Wood Freestanding Pet Gate HS (or HL if you want the wider gate). It's not available at PetSmart, but I'm sure can be found elsewhere.
Date published: 2008-02-29

Rated 5 out of 5 by Terrence from freestanding pet gate I bought 3 different types of gates before finding this one. I am finally satisfied with this one! This gate does what it says. It does not damage walls or floors. It stays put. I have a mini weiner dog who weighs about 10 pounds. I bought two of these gates to block her in my kitchen when I am at work or not home. The gates are attractive, easy to move and low enough for people to climb over to get in and out of a room. If you have a taller dog, they may not work. I have also used them at the bottom of my stairs to keep her on one level in my home. Do not use them at the top of the stairs, that is dangerous for any type of gate.
Date published: 2007-12-31

Rated 5 out of 5 by happypug1 from Very Happy This product was a godsend for us. We have a tri-level and this pet gate fits exactly in front of both downstairs and upstairs. Our pug was a rescue and has trouble climbing stairs. We also have an indoor cat that isn't real thrilled with the pug. She has her own room upstairs. This allows her to stay upstairs or go downstairs without the dog ever even noticing her. It's also very easy to step over to get downstairs to do laundry and then turn the corner to go upstairs to put it away. I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone with a tri-level and it will also come in handy when we have grandchildren. It was also very easy to assemble.
Date published: 2009-10-11

Rated 5 out of 5 by Portia from This is great Beautiful product.
