Rated 4 out of 5 by Justrunningthru Great space for 4 adult female rats
Firstly I must say that I got this cage on sale for $95. My local Petsmart already had it assembled. The space and size is excellent for my 4 adult female rats. It fits a critter space pod, hut and large silent spinner with room to spare. I removed the bottom wire slide out and just moved up the black collection pan. This allowed me to fill it with carefresh bedding. My only complaint is that the black collection bin was thin enough to get chewed through by my ratties. Replacement trays are not readily available. Aside from that I LOVE this cage.

by Rattykisses32 Fantastic starter cage
For starters, this is a very quality cage compared to others in somewhat similar price ranges. The biggest pro is it is mostly metal, only the pan is plastic. That means nothing can be chewed and it is not prone to easy wear.
I extremely like that the shelves and ramps are metal, and also thin so they are sturdy, but not bulky. May not be the strongest metal, but it's not like you're putting pounds of weight onto it. The ramps are large, non slick and have grips for easy walking.
Even if this isn't the biggest cage, I chose it because of it's all metal construction. It just feels a higher quality than ones with plastic shelves and ramps. I know it will be easy to clean compared to dirt that can get stuck in plastics.
Yes, the cage does have a metal grate on the floor, and no, it's not the easiest to exclude if you use the cage for rats. I say that because it may only put a little over a half inch gap if you remove it, but the plastic pan underneath isn't the sturdiest. Therefore a rat could easily squeeze between the cage and the pan.
But I knew I'd be using fleece lining for this cage anyhow and it works like a charm over the floor grate. It easily clips on with binder clips, just as it does onto the shelves.
I didn't find it difficult to put together, and it just looks really nice and sturdy. There is a lot of room for customization, litter pan, hideaways, hammocks. The storage space underneath is very handy too, it's about 8 inches of space, which is perfect. The wheels make cleaning a lot easier also.
If you can afford it, I'd say this is a very good starter cage if you don't want to splurge on something bigger. As I said, it's not the biggest, I wouldn't put more than 4 rats in this cage. But it does have ample run around space and I don't think you'll regret paying a little more for the quality.
A few cons: It's difficult to hang stuff at the right heights, as the horizontal bars are all a little high from any floor. The single door, although large, is still a bit of a challenge to reach into the back corners.

Rated 4 out of 5 by chinchillabama Good for one chinchilla
My chinchilla fits perfectly by herself in this cage. Although the door has a large opening my chinchilla has figured out how to sneak out when I open the door. Just enough space for food and igloo, but was hard to get water bottle nozzle to fit between bars. The ramps are stating to bend but my chinchilla does like the shelves. I do not recommend trying to put more than one chin in this cage. Mine has just enough space. It did take a while for me to out it together, but it easy to clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ratmama2 Excellent starter cage
This is a great starter cage for the novice rat hobbyist. The price is decent for the size and quality, I don't agree that it is difficult to put together however, I found it fairly easy actually compared to other DIY items. I wouldn't recommend this cage for someone who has larger animals than rats though because I believe it would be to cramped for a ferret or other like sized pet. I have 2 rats in this size cage and might possibly be able to put in 1 more but probably won't because I think caged animals need plenty of room regardless of how much they are allowed free roam time. I highly recommend the Critter Nation cage for the more serious rat fancier or larger animals they are excellent sturdy cages and would last forever! I would have bought that one but didn't need that much cage for the 2 rats I have, I'm also limited on space. This cage is somewhat noisy with an attached water bottle on the side when they drink so if you need a quieter cage I wouldn't recommend this one. The slide out tray is nice to put litter in if you are using it that way with the grill over that, or you can remove the grill and and slide the litter tray in the grill slot. Do watch for burrs on the under side of the shelves and ramps, file if necessary. All in all this is a great cage and will last quite sometime. I would have given 5 stars if it was quieter and a little sturdier.
