Equidone Oral Gel is used to treat fescue toxicosis, agalactic mares, low levels of milk flow, mares with inadequate ovulatory follicle sizes during the breeding season, and to promote follicle growth in transitional mares.

How is Medication Given? Administer 0.5 mg per pound of body weight (1.1 mg per kg) one time each day beginning 10-15 days before EFD (Expected Foaling Date). If the mare is not producing an adequate volume of milk post-foaling, continue treatment for up to 5 more days.

What Form Does Medication Come In? Gel
Dose and Administration: Each syringe contains 25 cc of Equidone.
Possible Side Effects: The most common adverse reactions associated with Equidone are premature (pre-foaling) lactation and failure of passive transfer.
Precautions: Equidone comes packaged with many gel syringe doses. Care should be taken to administer an accurate dose every time.
