DESCRIPTION: Rimadyl is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with joint diseases like arthritis and hip dysplasia.
Key Benefits: Carprofen is believed to work by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity.
Formulated For: For dogs 6 weeks of age or older.
How is Medication Given?
Typically, dogs will willingly consume these palatable, chewable tablets when offered by hand. For this reason, hand-feeding is a convenient option. This medication can also be combined with food. In either case, pet parents should ensure that the full dose is consumed. These tablets are pre-scored, and dosage rates should be calculated to the nearest half-tablet. To break in half, place the scored tablet on a hard surface, then press down on either side of the score. Recommended oral dosage rate is 2 mg daily per pound of body weight. Administer the full amount in one daily dose, or administer 1 mg per pound two times each day. To control pain after an operation, administer about 2 hours prior to surgery.
What Results Can I Expect? Rimadyl is an easy-to-administer, chewable formula that is safe to administer long-term to relieve canine joint pain.
