About this item
DESCRIPTION:

Meloxidyl Oral Suspension, a generic alternative to Metacam, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces the inflammation and pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.

Key Benefits: Meloxidyl contains the active ingredient Meloxicam. This ingredient inhibits prostaglandin production. Temporarily reducing prostaglandin presence helps to reduce inflammation drastically.

Formulated For: Dogs and puppies aged 6 weeks or older.

How is Medication Given?

  • This suspension comes with 2 dosing syringes - one (blue) for dogs weighing less than 15 pounds, and the other (green) for dogs over 15 pounds. Only these syringes should be used to dose this product. Do not use as dropper bottle.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.
  • Shake thoroughly prior to use and before removing the cap.
  • Administer directly into the dog's mouth or combine with food. Ensure accurate dosing.
  • For dogs weighing less than 15 pounds, use the small (blue) dosing syringe to prevent overdose. The syringe is marked for 0.5-pound or 1-pound weight increments to deliver a daily maintenance dosage rate of 0.05 mg per pound. Dogs under 1 pound should be dosed at the 0.5 syringe mark. If your dog is between syringe markings, round down to the nearest pound. Following use, replace the cap and tighten. F
  • or dogs weighing 15 pounds or more, use the large (green) dosing syringe. This syringe is marked in 5-pound weight increments (from 5 to 140 pounds) to deliver a daily dosage rate of 0.05 mg per pound. If your dog is between syringe markings, round down to the nearest 5-pound increment. Following use, replace the cap and tighten.

What Results Can I Expect? Features of Meloxicam: Offers a low likelihood of mid-dosing. The use-friendly syringe makes administration easy. Is equally effective and high-quality as name-brand Metacam Meloxicam, but at a more affordable price. The first generic Metacam alternative. Conveniently and easily treats osteoarthritis pain and improves mobility in dogs.

What Form Does Medication Come In? Oral Suspension

Dose and Administration: Sold in a bottle containing 10, 32, 100, or 200 mL.

Possible Side Effects: Potential adverse reactions include: Apathy; Digestive Tract Bleeding; Diarrhea; Vomiting; Inappetence. Most of these effects take place within the initial week of treatment, and they typically disappear when treatment is withdrawn. Rarely, severe, fatal reactions have occurred. Administering with high-protein substances, aminoglycoside antimicrobials, anticoagulants, diuretics, or any other NSAID can cause absorption or binding competition and increase the likelihood of toxicity.

Precautions Do not administer in dogs under 6 weeks old. Not proven safe for use in lactating or pregnant animals. Renal toxicity can result when dogs become hypersensitive to the medication, or if they become hypovolemic or dehydrated. Never administer to a dog showing signs of an adverse reaction, or to dogs with impaired renal function, impaired cardiac function, impaired hepatic function, or gastrointestinal irritation.

Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool and dry location.

In Case of Overdose: Contact the nearest emergency pet clinic immediately.
