DERAMAXX is different from other NSAIDs because it blocks COX-2, not COX-1. Ibuprofen, Naproxen, and most other NSAIDs block both of these enzymes. COX-1 produces prostaglandins that are required for many bodily functions, including blood clotting, protection of the stomach lining, and normal kidney function.

How is Medication Given?
Administer as prescribed by your veterinarian. Deramaxx should be administered as infrequently as possible and at the lowest possible dose. Never administer for more than 1 week unless your vet directs you to act otherwise. If a dose is missed, administer as soon as you remember. If it is almost time to administer the next dose, skip the missed dose. Never administer two doses simultaneously. Monitor your dog to ensure that the entire dose is consumed. This medication can be administered without or with food, but food does increase the medication's bioavailability. Ensure that your dog has constant access to water while taking this medication. Hand-feed or combine with food. Only one chewable should be removed at a time, and remaining medication should be stored safely. Administer prior to dental or medical procedures. Dosing recommendations to treat inflammation and pain associated with surgery are 1.4 mg to 1.8 mg for every pound of body weight. Dosing recommendations to treat joint inflammation and pain are 0.45 mg to 0.91 mg for every pound of body weight. Calculate dosage to the nearest half tablet. Follow your veterinarian' directions when using this product.

What Form Does Medication Come In? Chewable Tablet
Dose and Administration: Sold in bottles containing 90, 60, or 30 half-scored tablets in 12, 25, 75, or 100 mg strengths.
Possible Side Effects: Drugs in this class can cause side effects associated with the digestive system, kidneys, or liver. While generally mild, these effects may worsen. If such effects are observed, withdraw use and consult your vet at once.
Precautions Never break a larger tablet into smaller pieces to attempt to dose a smaller pet. Dogs requiring smaller doses than 12.5 mg will only be accurately dosed with a 12 mg tablet broken in half for a 6 mg dose. Accurate dosing is important to prevent an adverse reaction.
Storage Recommendations: Keep in original container and store in a cool and dry place between 59-86 degrees F. Keep away from children and animals.
