    About this item
    DESCRIPTION:

Sileo Gel for Dogs contains the active ingredient Dexmedetomidine. This oromucosal gel is useful in treating noise aversion in dogs. It is the first and only FDA-approved prescription formulated for this condition. It delivers a low dose of medication, allowing your dog to function and interact normally, but to also remain calm.

Key Benefits: Sileo works by blocking norepinephrine, a chemical within the brain that is known to accelerate anxiety (similar to adrenaline).

Formulated For: Intended for dogs 16 weeks of age and older.

How is Medication Given? Recommended Dosage Rates:

  • Dogs 4.4 to 12.1 Pounds: 0.25 mL
  • Dogs 12.2 to 26.5 Pounds: 0.5 mL
  • Dogs 26.6 to 44 Pounds: 0.75 mL
  • Dogs 44.1 to 63.9 Pounds: 1 mL
  • Dogs 64 to 86 Pounds: 1.25 mL
  • Dogs 86.1 to 110.2 Pounds: 1.5 mL
  • Dogs 110.3 to 137.8 Pounds: 1.75 mL
  • Dogs 137.9 to 166.4 Pounds: 2 mL
  • Dogs 166.5 to 196.2 Pounds: 2.25 mL
  • Dogs 196.3 to 220.5 Pounds: 2.5 mL
  • 1 mL contains 0.1 mg of Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride.
  • For doses larger than 1.5 mL, divide between both sides of mouth.
  • Administer onto oral mucosa between the gum and cheek.
  • Recommended dosage rate is 125 mcg/m2.
  • This gel should be absorbed, not swallowed. Product may be ineffective if swallowed. If swallowed, wait 2 hours to re-dose.
  • Administer the first dose when you detect a noise stimulus (like fireworks) that elicits fear or anxiety, right after your dog shows noise-related fear or anxiety symptoms, or about 30 to 60 minutes before an anxiety-causing stimulus.
  • If the bothersome noise lasts more than 2 to 3 hours and anxiety or fear returns, administer another dose.
  • Allow for 2 hours between doses, administering no more than 5 doses per event.

What Results Can I Expect? Sileo:

  • Works alone, requiring no training or other treatments
  • Is easy to administer at home
  • Calms dogs, but doesn't sedate them
  • Acts rapidly to calm dogs, but lets the dog and their parent/family interact normally
  • Is proven safe and effective through a placebo-controlled, random clinical trial
  • Is an easy-to-administer treatment for noise aversion, which can be challenging for pets and their parents
