DESCRIPTION

Animax Ointment is an antimicrobial and corticosteroid ointment that works to manage dermatological problems caused by inflammation or dry exudative dermatitis, particularly those associated with bacterial or candidal infection.

Key Benefits: Animax contains four potent active ingredients:

  • Neomycin, for its antimicrobial properties
  • Thiostrepton, for its antibiotic qualities
  • Nystatin, an antibiotic with antifungal benefits
  • Triamcinolone Acetonide, a potent synthetic corticosteroid
  • Together, these ingredients deliver therapeutic benefits.
  • This product is anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antipruritic, and antibacterial.

    Formulated For: Intended for cats and dogs.

    How is Medication Given?

  • Thoroughly wash your hands and be sure to wear gloves when administering.
  • Prior to use, the ear canal should be thoroughly examined to be sure there is no tympanic membrane rupture. This can prevent infection transmission to the pet's middle ear, and it can prevent cochlear or vestibular apparatus damage as a result of prolonged contact.
  • Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product.

    What Results Can I Expect? Animax is used to treat inflammation and dry dermatitis.

    What Form Does Medication Come In? Ointment

    Dose and Administration: Animax comes in tubes containing 7.5, 15, or 30 mL of ointment.

    Possible Side Effects: Adverse reactions can occur with parenteral or systemic synthetic corticosteroid use. These include:

  • Cushing's disease development (with prolonged or repeated use in dogs)
  • Elevated SAP and ALT (SGPT) enzymes
  • Excessive thirst (polydipsia)
  • Excessive urination (polyuria)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea, sometimes bloody

    When used to treat otitis, this ointment can cause transient hearing loss. After the withdrawal of treatment, hearing is typically restored. If you believe your pet is experiencing hearing loss as a result of Animax Ointment, withdraw use and consult your vet.

    Precautions:

  • Never give this medication to a pregnant animal.
  • Keep away from children and animals.
  • Store at temperatures below 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Storage Recommendations: Keep at room temperature and avoid extreme temperatures (104 degrees F).

    In Case of Overdose: Call your nearest emergency pet hospital.
