Possible Side Effects: Potential adverse reactions include:
Inappetence, which can be especially dangerous in diabetic cats. If your cat is disinterested in food, inform your veterinarian at once. Nausea (which can typically be lessened when dosed with food) Hypoglycemia, which occurs inapproximately 15% of cats on this medication. Cats should be monitored for this reason.
Precautions:
Use caution when administering to a cat with an untreated pituitary gland or adrenal disease. Never use during a diabetic emergency, including a diabetic coma. Never administer to a cat who is refusing to eat or shows signs of anorexia, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or severe ketoacidosis. Never administer to a cat with liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disease, a severe infection, a serious illness, or severe trauma. Never administer to a cat with a history of allergic reaction to this or a similar (sulfa) drug. Never administer to a pregnant or nursing cat. Keep away from children and animals.
