    DESCRIPTION:

    Itraconazole is an orally-administered, synthetic, antifungal trioazole. It treats skin and generalized systemic infections, primarily those associated with fungal or yeast organisms. It can treat severe fungal infections like blastomycosis or cryptococcosis, and it's also effective against skin infections, dermatophytes (ringworm), and toenail infections.

    Precautions

  • The risk of relapse is enhanced when not administered to completion. Dogs can appear to be feeling better, but the entire course of treatment is still needed to treat the infection fully. Fungal infections require a long course of treatment because they resist treatment more than a bacterial infection.
  • Administer cautiously to dogs with liver disease.
  • Not for use in pregnant animals.
  • Keep away from children and animals.
