This lincosamide antibiotic removes anaerobic bacteria by disrupting their protein synthesis, and it binds to bacterial RNA that the organisms need for survival and growth.

How is Medication Given?
Follow your veterinarian's directions when using this product. Do not administer this medication without veterinarian approval. Dosage rate and administration frequency will be dependent upon the severity of the animal's infection, the animal's individual response, and side effect development. Typical recommended oral dosage rate for dogs is 5 mg for every pound of body weight administered at 12-hour intervals, or 10 mg for every pound of body weight administered at 24-hour intervals. Typical recommended oral dosage rate for cats is 2.5 mg for every pound of body weight administered at 12-hour intervals, or 10 mg for every pound of body weight administered at 24-hour intervals. The entire prescription should always be administered unless your veterinarian instructs you to act differently. Even when animals appear to be feeling better, their infection could still return or worsen if treatment is withdrawn.
